Charlotte has been experiencing a little bit of a rainy season here lately. And by a little, I mean check-the-extended-forecast-and-there’s-a-lightning-bolt-every-day type of season. You might say we’re swimming this summer, but not in any kind of pool.
While the weather patterns are bizarre, I welcome a break from the southern heat. I also welcome the unrushed pace the rainy days bring.
While writing my next book has taken up a chunk of my summer, I am happy to announce….
I turned in all 60,200 words this past Monday.
For the next several days, I just want to use my computer for things that don’t require words : )
So, today’s Friday Favorites post is all about simple but delightful decorating ideas.
Here are some favorites I’ve found:
1) Chevron seems to be the pattern of the season. It’s on clothing. It’s on cell phone cases. And apparently, now it’s on pillows. Which is fine by me – I love the “pop” this pattern brings to a room!
2) Something about Pottery Barn just makes me want to redecorate. Everything. But since that’s a little unrealistic, I’m sticking with this vintage lantern.
3) I may or may not have originally seen this idea as a centerpiece for a wedding shower. Okay. I did. And no, we’re not marrying anyone off. But I just thought this was such a cute idea to brighten up a kitchen area or dining table. It’s simple and cheap to make your own – just fill a mason jar with lemon slices and flowers from your yard.
4) Another DIY decoration – stacking old books to elevate a picture frame, small vase, etc. You can find books like these at your local consignment shop, antique store, or a yard sale!
5) Don’t you wish you could just point to a sign for answers every time your people make you want to come unglued with their endless questions and arguments? This mama does. That’s why the Family Rules poster is so amazing!
And today, Alexander Creative is giving away one of the posters right here on my blog. Leave a comment telling me where you’d hang this in your house as a reminder.
I would put it in our family room where we all spend the majority of our time 5 kids 2 adults & 2 Yorkies 🙂 it’s a great set of “rules” especially for my family filled with lots of voices & energy 🙂 BLESSED to live this life!
I love the “rules” on this poster!! I would put it in our kitchen/dining/family room area!
I would hang it in my living room area so that I could keep on track!!
In the staircase!
I’d hang it in my living room right above our sofa. Cute!
I would hang it in my living room, right next to a large cross that I have as reminders for all in our family. People that came to visit would be able to see it right away also as they walked in the door. 🙂
How awesome! I’d hang it right in the kitchen, where everyone spends the most time 🙂
This beautiful reminder would hang in our kitchen, where we spend the majority of our time.
Love the poster…. Would love to hang in kitchen/back entry
It would be a gift for my son and daughter-in-law to hang in my grandkids’ toy room or the family room. This is the best rules poster I’ve seen…love it!!
The kitchen for sure, hung right by the table so during conversations or even when we have company over they can see what our family stands for.
The centerpiece is SO cute! (and may have to find a home on my table)
I would hang the poster right smack in the middle of the living room wall. Or in the entry way, where it would be seen each time you entered the house!
This is such an amazing poster with wonderful messages. How inspiring this would be in any home. In my own home I would place it right in our stairwell/foyer. No matter where you walk in my house you have to pass the stairway/foyer. Would love to be able to glance at this multiple times per day!
I love each one of these ideas especially the one with the books. We have about 10 book cases in our house because both my husband and I love books. With the idea, I would have to read the books first then stack them up. I would love to get classics that have stood up to the test of time like Anne of Green Gables, Wuthering Heights or David Copperfield. These were all wonderful ideas.
I would put this in the kitchen. I have a blank wall right by my sink where I tend to spend too many hours washing dirty dishes! 🙂
I love this rules poster! I would hang it in our family room or play room! I have been looking for something like this for our house!
I would hang it in my foyer where I’d see it everyday. What a wonderful reminder as our family walks by this daily!
I would give it to my son and daughter-in-law! With a 5-year old boy and a baby girl on the way, they would love to have it hanging in their home!
Thank you for all you do with Proverbs 31 Ministries!
Congrats on finishing your book. Can’t wait to read it. I too am enjoying these rainy, overcast days. Something about them just slows me down. I’d put the sign in my boys’ bathroom…they are teenagers now and tend to take a long time showering! Thanks for the inspiration.
I adore this! It would look amazing above my couch, that way everytime you walked into my home it would be the first thing you saw.
I didn’t realize you live in Charlotte! I’m in Greensboro. We could walk our fish in this weather, couldn’t we?
I would put it in the living room, on the wall with the TV. Love love love the book idea!
LOVE this poster ! I would hand it front and center in our homeschool room!
I love this! I would put it in my living room, right on the wall everyone sees/walks by, as a daily reminder to everyone in our family!
I would put it right in the entry way as you walk into the house. Everyone needs to be reminded as they are coming and going…..what life is really all about. Amen!
Cute ideas! I would hang the poster in our family room.
Hi Lysa! First, let me say PLEASE send some of that rain to Dallas! We’re having multiple triple digit days! Whew!
I would hang that beautiful reminder over the fireplace, since most of the time is spent in there reading or watching TV!
Hugs, blessings, and happy weekend!
We have three sons, ages 11-17….they are all visual learners, so this poster, displayed in our kitchen or playroom would be ever so referred to and used daily.
LOVE THIS!!! I would hang it in our kitchen/dining room so we can see it all the time!
I work for the Boy Scouts of America. We have youth in and out of the office continually. I would hang this poster in our Lobby area for all Scouts and kids that enter the building to see! Love it!!!!
Our living, dining and kitchen are one big open room so no matter where I put it, everyone will be able to see it! It will go in the living room portion where I have a great blank wall that is in desperate need of art, and art that helps us live a more Godly life is just what we ALL need!
In the kitchen 🙂
I would put it in our living room so everyone would see it.
I would hang mine in our Dining Room above a counter height curio that displays all 4 of our kids school crafts that they made over the years. Our kids are a little bit older and this poster would make a big impact to remind them!! The Dining Room is seen by all and you cant miss what goes on in there from many rooms in our home.
It would be so very awesome!
Thank you for offering this poster. I would hang it in my kitchen where my whole family would see it daily.
I LOVE this poster & would hang it in the hallway near our bedrooms for my 4 kids (3, 4, 7, & 10) to read & learn THE WAY to do life!! (Maybe it will interrupt those silly fights they get into daily!!?). A momma can hope!!
OH I’m with Ashley. No kidding, i was just getting ready to say the Shower when i saw her post!!!
my teenage boys need this! and yes this is where they spend alot of time…the shower…and oh the water billl ha ha!!!!
God Bless Mother of Boys!!!!
LOVE JESUS says it all for me. That’s what I want my five kids to do more than anything. This poster would be a great daily reminder of our priorities! I would hang it next to our kitchen table, our gathering spot.
I have a “cross wall” that I have been wanting to re-arrange and I think the Family Rules poster in a cute frame would make an excellent focal point with all the crosses around it. My family will pass and see in multiple times throughout the day and as they enter or exit our home. It will be a reminder of who we are and whose we are and what that looks like in our behavior. I love it!
I would definitely hang this in our family room. I think it is an awesome reminder to both our family as well as incoming guests where our priorities should lie. I think it would transition perfect in any military quarters we move to. It would remain the constant no matter where we went.
I would put this sign right outside my daughter’s bedroom. We adopted her from China a little over a year now and she Loves Jesus!! She is 11 and these words speak volumes. I love it!! 🙂
I would hang the poster in my computer room where I spend a lot of my time. The poster would a good reminder of what I want my words to be as I type…
I love this poster! I’d hang it in my sons bedroom, but when we move to a bigger house I’d hang it in the family room.
I enjoyed your post today. I loved the fun & easy decorating ideas. The poster is awesome! Especially the first point about LOVING JESUS! You don’t find that very often on posters! I would hang it in kitchen area and love to be reminded of these great rules. I have three young kids, 6, 4, and 1.5 so this would be a big hit and referred to daily!
thank you for your encouragement!
I love, love, love the family rules posters/wall hangings. So ok I know this sounds like a really odd place to hang this but I would hang this on the bathroom wall in my kids bathroom. It’s perfect reading material for those private moments that require a little thinking while in the bathroom. TMI??? Sorry.
When I was a teen I visited my cousins frequently and my aunt posted something Erma Bombeck had written about why moms do the things they do even though kids don’t understand their motives right at eye level while sitting on the potty. Well after awhile I had memorized that silly thing and even during a quick trip to the bathroom I would reread it and it has stuck with me to this day. Kids absorb more things like this I think better than than we are yap, yap, yapping about them. So maybe it seems a little crazy but it just may be worth a shot at getting kids to pay attention to it rather than seeing it as just another wall decoration I have hanging up my stairs. Have a great day and congrats in finishing your book!
This lovely reminder would hang in the hallway between the kitchen and family room. Our children are grown, and we have one who moved back home with her children. Always looking for ways to encourage their precious family.
I would hang it in the kitchen where we spend most of our time. What a great reminder of what is important!
I would hang it right in the kitchen where we would see it first thing in the morning and at various times throughout the day. And maybe one in living room, one on the stairs, one in the boys room… Do they make it as wallpaper??? 🙂
I love the poster! I have 3 boys-12 and 6yr old twins. I would hang it in their playroom.
Love it! Love that it’s black and white, my fave, love the passion behind it, love the style, love it all! I would probably hang in between my kitchen and living room. We tend to end up there a lot while I am preparing meals, etc. I love how some of the biggest words are ‘HAVE FUN’, doing life tasks can sometimes pull away the fun, but I am a firm believer in finding the fun as a family. So this lovely sign would remind me to throw a pinch of flour at my toddler for a cute smile! Thanks for you blog!
I would hang this poster in my boys’ bathroom. I have 2 boys and as they get older, I know they will be spending time every morning in the bathroom getting ready for the day. These rules are the perfect reminder of how they should strive to treat others and we ALL need to refresh our minds with these truths every single day!
I’d probably hang it in our living room where we congregate or I might work it into the dining/kitchen area since we are in there a lot also. Love this list of “rules!”
Great poster! I would put it in our family room where we would see it the most. My kids (and us adults too) could use this reminder as we go through the day. Summer vacation doesn’t need to turn into sibling bickering. Thanks Lysa!
I would hang it by the back door (the door we use most often) as a reminder to all of us as we come and go.
I would hang it at the top of the stairs where the girls ( I have 3 teenage girls) would see it every time they went upstairs. At this stage in their life, they come home, go upstairs to their rooms, come down to get food, go back up, come down to get a few items of clothing out of their clean laundry basket which never seems to make it back up the stairs with them, then back upstairs. Then down the stairs to ask my opinion on their outfit then back upstairs, then down to go out, then back upstairs. I know they would see it at least 5-6 times a day! 🙂
This would definitely hang in our kitchen where most all our time is spent. A great poster that needs to be read numerous times throughout the day to help keep a positive attitude.
I would most definitely hang this in the kitchen where all family members would see it many times each day.
I would hang it in a relaxing place. These are things to be reminded of gently and passionately…not necessarily in place with a lot of action and hurried -ness…the message is not a throw-in-your-face message for me, but a gentle, thoughtful and wonderful reminder..
I can’t wait to read your new book! Also, love the fun decorating ideas.
We have some open space in the living room, and this would be perfect there!
I would hang this poster on the wall at the bottom of my stair case where it would be seen by all every single morning as we come down the stairs for the day. this space is also right by my front door so when visitors come and go they will be blessed by the poster as well!:)
I would hand it in our living room. In a pretty frame and mat.
Great poster! Since my kids are grown and on their own, I would hang it at my office in the break room as a reminder to all get along, just as you do at home!
I would put it where my teen would see it. . . Regularly. He’s been driving me bonkers.
Love the poster! I would hang it in the family room where everyone can read it daily 🙂
I would put this in our dining/homeschooling/games/arts/crafts room which happens to be visible from the kitchen and living room, so pretty much visible throughout the whole downstairs. What a lovely and practical tool.
I would hang it in my kitchen. We’re always in there! 🙂
It would hang in a small entry way where we all pass multiple times a day. Thank you for sharing your Friday Favorites — love it!
My daughter has just moved into a new home is decorating a playroom off the kitchen. It’s painted a bright apple green. This poster would look great on a wall to remind my grandsons, (ages 2 and 4) how God would want them to treat each other with love and respect. My daughter loves these kinds of posters and often creates them herself but right now she is pretty busy with getting her new home organized.
This would look lovely in my living room. That is the family gathering place and these reminders would be great to see “hanging around”!
I would hang the poster in my family room – close to the wall hanging that includes our family verse from Colossians 3:12-15. The last lines on the poster tie in with in perfectly!
I would hang this poster above our kitchen table. We try to eat dinner together every night. Sweet blessed time of the day.
I love the poster and the antique lantern! If I had a copy of that poster I would hang it right near the front door where it can be seen before leaving the house and upon entering the house. It is a great set of rules and should certainly be displayed for all to see it.
Love the poster! I’d frame it and proudly display in the entry way. A constant reminder when one enters our home and leaves.
We have a large playroom where everyone congregates in our home. I would hang it in there where everyone could see it!
I would hang it right as you come into the kitchen! That way no one could miss it as they are heading to the refrigerator!
I would place this in our foyer on the wall right before you enter the living room or kitchen. Would be seen by all who are at our home. And by my family throughout the day. Wonderful reminders and encouragement for everyone each day.
I would hang it in between the kids bedrooms. that way they would see it every time they went in there rooms, and to the bathroom!!!
I would hang it on the upstairs wall where EVERYONE in the family would see it as they were going to their bedrooms! Something to remember as you go to your room to get ready for bed! Say your prayers and remember the Family Rules!
Somewhere in my living room. There us a lot of blank wall space in there!
I would hang it in the family room so we would all see it.
I just got married a year ago and had a horrible childhood as I endured so many different forms of abuse. I lived day to day in fear not knowing what was going happen. My dream has always been to create a family with God in the middle as opposed to so much hurt and turmoil. My husband is the total opposite of my dad who loves the lord and loves me with all his heart. Yesterday we found out that we are having our first child and all I could think about was how much love this baby will experience in its life. Through the change of my life and all the people God has put in it to show me how love was supposed to be I know that he/she will have more love than anyone I knoe. Therefore, I will put this poster in my baby’s room as a reminder that dreams do come true!
I would place it in our new(er) remodeled living room right above our firplace. Perfect place. Perfect touch!
I would place the poster in our living room! I don’t see it as a “rules” poster but more of a way of living poster! It would be placed right above our saying “With God all things are possible” and our families photo! Everyone that enters our home would see it! Thank you for offering such an amazing gift as a give away! Have a blessed day!
my living room is our family room so I would hang it in my living room right above my sectional sofa. We just completed a year in our home so our walls are bare and I have been thinking of what to do with that huge walls pace. So now I have a great idea!!!!! (light bulb)
I will make that my inspirational wall and hang posters and pictures with inspirational quotes and sayings.
My widowed youngest daughter just remarried and I’d love to give this to them and their blended family of 7!
Looking forward to your new book…hoping it has study questions for groups!
May God keep you in His perfect will!!
OH MY GOSH! I saw this poster a few days ago and saved his etsy store so I could remember where I saw it! IT’S PERFECT! I would hang it in my dining room/kitchen. It’s the center of our home and it would be the perfect spot for the perfect reminder. Thank’s Lysa for your wonderful blog. You have been such an inspiration to me and so many others!!!
My kitchen as that is the family gathering place.
Oh Pottery barn how I love thee as well – just wish it was a little more realistic for my pocket book.
I would hang it up on the prominent wall in our eating area, which is the place where we gather together the most as a family. Great reminders for all of us.
I would love to have one in every room just to remind us of these at every turn. LOL. I would place it in the playroom which connects to our living room so it can be seen from both places as these are the two rooms we’re in the most. 🙂
I ‘d like to hang this in our entry way or in the dining room
Thank you for being who you are and ministering to us women & moms. I definitely appreciate DAILY all Prov 31 does through the devos.
This poster is a god-send! I need this poster because, although my three kids are wonderful according to every other adult in the vicinity – and I’ll admit they are a pretty great too, they drive me nuts (and to blow my top) with their constant arguing, etc. In fact, I can hear my husband right now asking them to cut it out while I type this. We could definitely use this poster so I don’t have to say a word some days where I’m afraid if I open my mouth, the “alien” will come out!
If I had one for every room, I would hang one in each room as a reminder. If I had a mini version of the poster, I would post it in my car. But if I only had one, then I would hang it in my room so I am reminded first thing in the morning!
This is so cool! I would hang it in our playroom as a daily reminder! Thank you for your ministry!
I would hang it in our living room which is where our triplets will be playing often. We just found out we are having triplets and I think this is a perfect sign for them to grow up with.
In my breakfast area. This is where our family comes together everyday to talk about our day and share some delicious food.
By the way, I really LOVE the mason jar vase with lemons and flowers!
I would post in our family room, and voice it as a rembrance when i see unlovely behavior among the 6 teeneagers in the house……Love the ideas thanks for sharng!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! I have three teenage girls, so this would be perfect over their desk in their study area!
I would hang this in my family room right across from my favorite chair where I do my bible study and prayers.
Love it and (am thinking Christmas already) would like to buy one each for my nieces to hang in their rooms! What great advice. But it would also look great on my family room wall where we spend most our time and it could serve as a constant reminder. I especially love the number one rule, “Love Jesus”.
It would go in the bathroom so it can be read while brushing our teeth…. every morning! As long as it takes to read is how long you have to brush! Perfect!
i would hang it in the kitchen, i love when my family sits and visited with me while i cook supper.
We are on a big adventure, having moved from CO to SC 3 weeks ago. The 5 of us + one dog are staying in an apartment while we try to get acquainted to a city that we have never been before. We don’t have any decorations up yet and so this great reminder for our 3 kids would find a special place above the camping chairs (temporary couch 😉 ) in our living room!
I would get two, one to hang beside my door so I see it as I leave the house and a second for my bathroom as I get ready for the day so I can pray about some of them, remind me about some and put my focus on them:)
We just moved into a new home 2 weeks ago. I would hang this on the wall leading up the stairs from the entrance. It would be seen everytime the kids (or I) go up and down those stairs.
I’ve been looking for a Family Rules poster for awhile! I love this one because the first thing that catches my eye is LOVE JESUS. Nothing is possible without first loving our Savior abc them our love for others. I would place this poster in our hallway for a frequent reminder to my family members. My daughters (8 & 5) are becoming independent readers and I know they’d love to see this encouragement daily! So would I! Thank you for the giveaway and cool decor tips this Friday morning Lysa.
Love that poster! I would hang it in our foyer over the table, where everyone who walks in can see it. The foyer is the central part of our new house – we just moved after living over 20 years in a different state. We need these reminders – daily! And by the way, you and I have the same taste in many areas, including decorating. I am SO doing the jar with the lemon slices and flowers, I have a similar lantern, love the chevron pattern . . . and Target is my STORE! I told my husband that if there wasn’t a Target store within a 5 mile radius from where we were moving, I was pretty sure Jesus didn’t want us to move there. 🙂
I love this! I would hang it in our kitchen for all of us to see and be reminded each day. We have one similiar in our living room about Love and I recently bought another for a wedding gift! This is my new favorite decoration! Congrats on your book! I can’t wait to read it!
I would hang it in my kitchen/breakfast area. It’s the perfect spot for everyone to see every day. I’ve seen many of this kind out there but I just LOVE all the statements listedon this one.
In the kitchen, by the table where we homeschool, share stories, eat together and reconnect. Love this poster!! Just sums it up:)
I absolutely love this! I would hang this in the foyer for all of the family to see! I love to see the name of Jesus in those big bold letters!
I would hand it at the top of my stairs. I’ve seen these around and tried painting one, but hand painting letters is difficult.
I think I’d hang it in the bathroom! Since our home has only one it would be a good place to remind us to be kind to each other! 😉
Entry hallway, definitely:)
I would hang it on the wall beside our dining table where it could be seen coming through the door as we come in and leave!
I would hang in our kitchen where we would see it everyday…beautiful words to live by. Thank you for this opportunity.
I love this poster! I would hang it next to the front door. Thanks for the great ideas.
I would hang this in my dining room between all of our collage of pictures of family and friends. This is where my husband, 4 children, and multiple “adopted” children sit on a daily basis. We eat our meals here, we pray here, talk here and spend all our time. This wall is directly across from where I sit and I need these reminders multiple times during the day and evening. Anxiety and past issues have been creeping on me lately. As we all know, our children don’t take turns when issues need to be dealt with, and then add the husband to the mix and uffta…I’m not just on a one day at a time plan, I am on a one minute at a time plan. Thanks for all you do, your emails lately have been hitting home and I look forward to them!
Woweee! I would frame it onto our kitchen pantry door because you see directly to our breakfast nook. It would be our daily statement of love our “confessional” we read aloud together every day! Our words set the tone for change.
I would hang this poster in our living room on the big wall over the staircase. Which would make it a focal point in our living room and most definitely could not be missed! I love these posters and have seen them several times but haven’t gotten one for the house yet.
In our kitchen eating area, the hallway to our door, the kids “hang out” area downstairs…I can’t decide! LOVE IT!
LOVE the poster as it sums up rules from the Word not world. I need to inscribe this on my family’s forehead 🙂 I would hang it right as you enter from garage! Thanks Lysa.
Love this! My kids are grown and don’t live at home anymore, but I teach at a Christian school…4th grade, and it would be great to hang in my room!
Congratulations Lisa for completing and turning in all your words you needed. I have been praying for the Lord to help you with that. God is good and we ALL love him soooooo much. Love your daily posts. You are soooooooooooooooo inspirational and cute and sweet and precious all in one. Have a great and blessed weekend. Love and God bless you always.
If i had this poster in my house I would hang it by the back patio door where we go in and out to leave the house. I love these rules. I believe it would also be a witness to my husband who currently isn’t saved and who doesn’t know Jesus Christ as his personal savior. I pray everyday for God to give me strength so I can be a light to him and win him over without saying a word.
I would hang it right by the door in and out of the kitchesn so that when anyone leaves or is hanging out in the kitchen they are reminded of these things!!! It is a great poster!
I would love to hang that in my living room. Being a Scouting Mom, and just returning from a week at Scout camp, i would love to hang it in the center of Scout camp. Those are words to live by! Not only for the boys, but for the parent volunteers as well!!
I’d hang it in the kitchen! Right when we walk in the door, we could all see it everyday!!
My husband and I are empty nesters. And while we could certainly use these reminders, I currently believe the most appropirate wall for the sign would be my office.
We are in the process of implmenting a HUGE software application. This involves working as individuals and teams to determine needs and outcomes. Of course, each department and division has different needs and there is a short time frame in which to meet them. While we are all working toward a common goal of implmenting a successful financial package that would accomodate thousands of employees, things get stressful to say the least. The sign would remind of us of the truly important things not only during this time, but every day….”Love Jesus…..Be considerate, respectful and grateful” and we all need to take time to be “silly and dance.” Thank you so much for sharing this with me.
Love this! Such an easy reminder without “preaching” to hang on any wall in our home, especially after we repaint and do our family gallery up the stairs. This would be a great reminder of sharing God’s love with all. Glad you finished your book, can’t wait to read it!
Good Morning, Lysa!
I’m so excited that you completed your new book! Can’t wait to get a copy of it!
I would hang the poster in the dining area. I absolutely LOVE it!
Have a wonderfully blessed day!
I would hang this in on my sun room wall near the kitchen. It’s where we all hang out. I’m going through a divorce and trying to keep my children’s lives as stable as possible and this would be the perfect item to anchor those family ties and Christ centered life. Also for my extended family of all my kids’ friends that tell me “Mama, this is the house that we all feel most comfortable hanging out in” It makes my heart sing. Can there be any sweeter words in the world? Thank you Lysa for your words of encouragement-they really mean a lot!
Love the decorating ideas, especially the flower vase — might have to try that! I especially like the Family Rules poster — it would be FRONT AND CENTER on my refrigerator!
As a mother of a 17 year old and a 13 year old-I believe this poster would serve as a reminder to always take on the character of Christ and to love one another the way the word instructs us too. We are in the process of posting scriptures along with other positive sayings and quotes that will help us to be a family who continuously represent Christ.
I would hang this in our living room. It is the heart of our house and where we all gather. This would be an awesome focal point to any room though!
I would hang the Family Rules in our mudroom—it sees the most traffic and would be viewed often, by everyone, for a daily reminder. Great design!
I would hang it in the diningroom so we could read it at dinner time everyday.
Hang it right in the kitchenette b/c it’s the centet point of dowmstairs and NO ONW COULD MISS IT!
My first thought hang it in there toy room but family room maybe a better spot then all who come see it because that is our main hub.
I love that the first line is LOVE JESUS! I would hang it in our hallway for all to see, not just family, but anyone who enters our home.
Wherever the family gathers – gameroom or kitchen, where we could see it often!
My first thought hang in kids toy room but would be seen by all who come to our home if it was in our family room.
I would hang it in the kitchen, the hub of our home. Congratulations on completing your new book. Eager to read
I would hang this in our dining room as this is the one room in the house that we all gather to talk about everyone’s day.
I love this! I have the perfect place in my kitchen hutch for this poster. I’m thinking it would help a lot with the bickering among my three girls that is so prevalent this summer….
I LOVE THIS POSTER! A daily reminder of some very important “fruit” that our character as believers should bear! I would like to hang two! One in the kitchen because everyone is sure to visit that room at least once a day, and one by the front door so that in our comings and goings, we can be reminded!
I would post it in the foyer so it can be seen by all who come in 🙂
I would hang this on the bare spot just as you start down the hall to our bedrooms, which can also be seen from the great room. It would keep us mindful of the lessons/rules for our family. 🙂
I’d love to hang this sign right in the entry way so everyone entering my home would know the “rules!” Plus it would be a fabulous conversation starter with guests and a way to talk about Jesus with nonbelievers!! 🙂 <3
I would hang it in our foyer where we’d see it often as we come and go.
Since we don’t have siblings here, just one wonderful teenager, I would love to have it to give as a gift to my sister and her family.
Congrats on the book! Cant wait!
And so looking forward to Women of Faith in San Antonio! Woo-hoo! :o)
In their bathroom so they read it as they brush their teeth! I could even suggest they read it 3 times before they can be done brushing!
I’d frame it and put in in a collage in the hallway or in the living room. Options. 🙂
My children are 19, 13, and 11. The poster has all of the rules that I currently have on a note on my refrigerator. I often take the kids to the refrigerator and point at the rule on the note that was broken. We also go over the rules as everyone is gathered at the bar in the kitchen while I am cooking. Therefore, I would hang the poster in the kitchen. I have the perfect wall for it which is also right next to the door so everyone that entered or exited would see it. I would be the best conversation piece. Oh, and it matches my decor perfectly. Whoever is the lucky one to receive it will surely cherish it! Thank you, Lisa! You are are blessing!
I would hang it in my office so that I can see the beautiful reminders everyday.
I’d hang this in my walkway so as soon as everyone comes in the house it could be a reminder and encouragement to all who read it.
I have been looking at these “family rules” posters for a while and have hesitated on buying one. This one I love! I love that the first rule is to love Jesus. Amazing. Like many others I think I would hang it in the kitchen where we spend a lot our our time.
I would put this in our dining room. My mom had proverbs 3:5-6 in our dining room and I read it over and over through the years. This would be a great thing to read and be reminded of, too.
Not sure where I would hang it but definitely love the reminder!!!
I would hang it in the family room where everyone can see it all the time.
I would hang this at the end of our hall. It’s where all the bedrooms split off, so we all see it everytime we walk in and out of our rooms/ bathroom. We have a small family rules sign hanging there now and I Notice a different phrase everytime I walk by it. I LOVE this one though because it has Love Jesus first and I have never found one like that! It’s just perfect.
Love the family rules poster! I’d hang it on the wall next to the thermostat in the hall that leads to all the bedrooms. It would be the first thing seen as we approach that hall from the rear of the house. Does anyone else live with people who even when things are obvious totally don’t see them?! 🙂
I would hang it near my bathroom mirror so I would see it everyday . . . Because if Mama ain’t happy (or doesn’t start the day with Jesus) then ain’t nobody happy! Hopefully it would also be reflected in the mirror for my family)
I have been looking for a verse or saying to hang in my “hallway” to the garage for the last year or so. I want something for my family to see every time we walk out and in, something to be in the back of our minds as we go about each day. This would be perfect there! I love all it says and it’s definitely the ideas, thoughts and values of our family! Thanks for sharing today Lysa, love your insight 😉
I would frame it and put it in our living room where we can see it as we play there and also from the dinner table–basically so it can be seen from anywhere in the main living space of our home!
I would hang it in our mudroom! We all pass thru there on the way to the house so it would be a great reminder to all of us!!
Love it! I would hang it in the entry so it is the first thing we see!!
I would hang this in our kitchen…its inevitably where we always are hanging out, so I think it would be often seen!
Great poster!! We should have more than one so it could be hung everywhere!!!! Our kitchen area is used most and that is where we would hang this poster, so we could be reminded in every moment to step out of our flesh and be kind to one another. :).
I would hang it on the wall beside the landing on our stairs, so that everyone in our family of 6 would see it, first thing, as we walk downstairs in the morning (and anytime throughout the day). Thank you for sharing :0)
I have two boys that are constantly arguing and I’m always having to say those very same words from the the family poster. I would hang up in the kitchen next to the breakfast bar since they are always in the kitchen asking for food. When they are acting out and I can simply just point to sign and say ” here is your sign”. LOL! Boys!
Love the Family Rules. I would give this to my daughter-in-law . She and my middle son had twin boys 4 months ago to add to their family of a 7 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. The rules epitomize what they teach their children and I think it would be wonderful to have a visual reference in a decorative piece. The 7 year old would read each of them and point out the ones her 3 year old brother violated. Love it and your ministry. I would let my daughter-in-law decide where to hang it. (That is mother-in-law 101.) Love my daughter-in-laws. (From a mom of 3 sons).
I would display it in the kitchen which is where we all spend most of our time when we are home!
I would give this to my daughter because the first thing on there is what I want my grands to know.
I would hang this in our den. I actually have a great place where it can’t be missed, close to the TV. They can’t help but see it. 🙂
I’d hang this lovely poster in the foyer – to greet every coming and remind every going.
Congratulations on finishing your book!
I would hang this in my den, which is the “hub” of my home. It’s where we all gather and hang out.
I would put it at the bottom of our back stairs–where the kids would see it each morning when they come downstairs together to start their day and many times throughout the day after that, too! Maybe if they had seen it this morning, they would not be writing paragraphs right now to share with each other on what is great about each other and how “love one another” includes siblings after starting today squabbling over Honor Roll potential (or each other’s lack thereof??) for NEXT YEAR. It’s July for goodness sake!
I love, love, love the family rules poster! I would hang it so it was the first thing my step son saw as he walks in the door he is 25 and so very frustrated with his life and job a 3rd party can sometimes teach what we as parents cannot seem to, after all it takes a village!
Happy Friday and Lysa thank you for brining a little joy our way on Friday with all of the fun items and great ideas!
I’d hang it in my play room – my soon to be four year old triplets have their momma’s homeade house rule sign there now & we sure would love to upgrade to such a pretty one!
I would hang this poster in my bedroom so that every morning when I wake up, I could get my day started off on the right foot. Sometimes I get in too big of a hurry and forget to just thank you to my dear heavenly father for allowing me to get out of bed!
The family rules poster is great!! I would hang it in the kitchen – thats where everyone hangs out! 🙂
I have seen these pics before and I love them!!! I would hang this in my family room so we would all see it and be reminded of those “rules” daily!
I would place this beautiful reminder on a wall that stands between my kitchen and my dinning room the two most lived in areas of my home. Thank you for this awesome opportunity!!! I am excited!!! And, I can’t wait to read your new book!!!
I absolutely adore that poster and I would hang it in the center of our dining room wall where we spend a lot of time as a family…it’s a beautiful reminder of what to aim for as we begin each day and end each evening.
Mudroom–to see it on the way in the house and on the way out of the house!
Love the poster! I’d hang it in the kitchen or main hallway so it would be seen often!
We are one week into our move from NC to Colorado! As we search for our new home I am busy decorating in my head. My pastor recently asked us how our home provides a reflection of our faith to the non-believing visitor. That has challenged me. Created excitement in my heart! I would hang this into kitchen where everyone loves to hang out! It would be a focal point outlining what our family values and that in our house? We serve The Lord! Blessings to you all everyone attending She Speaks this year!!! I will be in prayer that the experience will be as touching and transforming as always!!
I would hang this in my kitchen where everyone could see it everyday as a reminder.
I would definitely hang this is my childrens playroom..therefore the kids would see it since they spend most of their day in there and anyone coming into my home would be forced to glance at it because that is the first room in my house when you open the front door
In the front hall/living room, so we can all see it ALL day long! After all, even Mommy needs a reminder to check my attitude now & again!
Congrats on finishing the book!
I’d put the awesome poster in our kitchen-
The room we all visit frequently!
It would also come in handy for covering our tv ;-))
I love this! I have something similar but not with a Christian perspective. I would hang this in our family room for all to see and ponder. 🙂
I love this!!! I’d frame it and put it on the wall at the bottom of our stairs, so my 14-year-old twin daughters would see it first thing every morning when they come downstairs! This wall is also by our front door, so everyone would see it before they leave our home. What an awesome reminder of how to live each day!
I would hang this in the hallway leading to the garage, we all enter and exit thru there. I would also hang it in the front door entrance where my crosses are hung to welcome guests.
Congrats on your book.
Blessings to you and your family.
I would feel ever-so-blessed and honored to hang any of the posters in my home wherever God leads me to hang it!! Every single one touches my heart and fills me with His peace 🙂
I have wanted to make something like the house rules poster, but it sure wouldn’t look as good as this one! I would hang it on our wall near the kitchen table, so that ALL would see it at least once as they enjoy this busy area of our home.
Love, love this poster!!! I would frame this poster and put it in my family room so we can ALL see it. These rules apply to everyone.
I love the poster! I’d give it to my sister who has young children. It would fit well in her homeschool classroom.
I would hang it next to my breakfast nook table where my three children regularly sit so we could read it every time we sit down to eat.
Congrats on finishing your book! This poster would be front and center in our family room, where most rules are broken and most reminders occur. Love that the first rule is to “Love Jesus”. Feeds right into our rule of WWJD?
I would hang it in our living room; where my family spends the most time together.
I love the poster. I would hang it in our entrance way adding family pictures around it to add as a reminder….. The beautiful faces and words go together…. Unity.
I would hang this in the bathroom!! It is the only place where I know for sure everyone in the house would for sure read it!! Thanks for the give away!
Hi Lysa! Happy Friday and congrats on finishing your book! I would hang this poster on my refrigerator! I love it and if I do not win it I might just buy one…:)
Thank you for the chance <3
I would hang it in our new and improved dining room. Most of our family discussions take place around the dinner table so it would be nice to have this as a reference.
I can’t wait to read your next book! I would hang the poster in our living room so we would see it all the time 🙂
Love this! My boys are 13,10 and 5. I’d hang it in the hallway at our backdoor so that the whole family could see it whether we are coming in or going out to love our neighbors 🙂
That is a great accomplishment way to go! I love the poster and it would be on this bare wall right between the kitchen and living room where you can see it no matter where you are in the shared spaces in our little apartment. Thanks for all you encouragement and wisdom.
I LOVE this poster! We have two small children we’re trying to raise to be wonderful & respectful people! We would hang this poster proudly in our Kitchen, since that is where our family spends most of our time and where we have meaningful conversations with our children. Thank you!
Thank you again for all the ways you minister!! God bless everyone of them!
I love the poster as well and would hang it in our dining for all to see!!
Congratulations on the book! You must feel happy and hopefully satisfied to have it finished! Enjoy the rest of summer!
I love the poster! I would hang it in our kitchen because that is where we spend most of our “together time”. Thanks for everything you do and share! The gift of your faith and love that you share is priceless!
I would put it in our loft which is considered the kids “area”/ play room. That way they could constantly be reminded and also as their friends come over they could see it as well and know what we stand for. I especially like this sign because LOVE JESUS is at the top. Above all we must remember to Love Jesus and do as Jesus would. By far my favorite family rules sign I have seen!
Look forward to reading your new book when it comes out. You always have such practical and uplifting words for the soul. The poster is neat and would go near the front door. A reminder of how we are to be in a lost world. As far as the rain goes, it’s the season. I’m sure there will be plenty more hot and dry summers to come. That is my experience from being raised in the south. Thanks for all the neat decorating ideas too!
So excited for you Lysa…what a wonderful feeling!
This would hang on a wall that cannot be missed either coming or going or sitting! Our house isn’t very big so this wall is perfect!
Love the poster! This would be great for our family room!! Thanks for the decorating tips, too!
I think I would hang this in the bathroom. A place where everyone goes and there aren’t many distractions.
Yea, another book to read…I can’t wait!!! Thanks for all the wisdom you pray for and share with others in order to build up the Kingdom of God! I LOVE the poster…many of the words I repeat minute after minute on a daily basis. I would hang it in our kitchen/dining room because that’s where some of our family’s most important stuff takes place everyday…giving thanks…sharing (hopefully willingly :)…and asking God & others for help.
I love this idea. But, if I were to win this, I would give it to a friend of mine to hang in her home. My son is already an adult and though these would have been great when he was young, they would benefit my friend with her young boys now. She has a wonderful great room that I’m sure would be the home of this poster. God bless
We would hang this between our dining room and family room. This is where the whole family spends all of their time besides sleeping:) I have four boys that seem to need reminded consistently! Not including me when I’m ready to explode or is Lysa’s words “unglued”!
I would post it in our kitchen – I have 4 boys so that’s a popular destination in our house. I also spend a majority of my days in this area & can use the reminder, in big, bold print, as much as my kids.
CONGRATULATIONS on your book! I would LOVE this poster for my home and for reminders of the important things to teach my beautiful grandbabies!!!
I would hang it in the hallway, where not only Family, but everyone could see it.
Congrats on finishing your new book.
Yes Charlotte has been a wee bit wet this Summer..allowing time for me to get in a little more reading. I am so thrilled you finished your book, Congrats! & cannot wait to read it! This poster would be in our kitchen where we have still make sure that family is together for atleast one meal per day. We have so many quality listening moments around our dinner table with our 2 boys. Thanks!
I would put it on the wall right by my front door so that everyone of us could read it before we leave to remind us that we are going out into the world, which we are trying not to be a part of, and these are characteristics we should display as Christians. Especially the forgiveness part! Such a good reminder.
Congratulations on your book! I am excited to read it! Enjoy summer!
I love your Friday favorites- the lemon/flower arrangement is so cheerful! I also love the poster and would hang it in the kitchen/breakfast area where we all spend time.
L-O-V-E IT, N-E-E-D IT! It would go perfect in our kitchen, where we are 75% of the time! Congrats on finishing your book- woo hoo! Can’t wait to read it:)
We would hang this in kitchen, the room everyone spends the most time in. 3 teens and husband would greatly benefit from these reminders.
I just love these family posters. I would put this beside my pantry cabinet cause that door gets opened more than any other – family, friends, teenagers. My kitchen and living area is open to each other so everyone would be able to see it.
I think this would be awesome in my grandchildrens new playroom. They close on the new farm in Vermont today!
I am so looking forward to your new book. I have loved the snipets that have come our way as a sneak preview.
As for the poster…..is it tacky to hang it in every single room of the house? Maybe as wallpaper? 🙂 Seriously, I would probably hang it in my dining room at the head of our dining table as that’s where most of our family conversations take place and we come together.
I’d hang it right at the beginning of the hallway so everyone would have to see it as they pass (especially me)!
God Bless you, Lysa! I would give the poster to my church’s preschool. I’m sure the children would love it! Aloha…
Love this poster and I would place it in our gathering place, the kitchen!
Can’t wait to read your new book! I LOVE all of your decorating ideas today and plan on using some of them, but I especially love the poster. I would love to have tons of them just to give to newly married couples, new parents, my children and grandchildren, etc. EVERYONE needs a copy of those rules in their home. What a difference it would make!
I’m not sure if I would hang it in my entry way so everyone sees it as they walk in the door or in my bathroom so it would remind my husband & me of these truths.
Thanks for the chance to win! It would fit perfectly in our living room where it can be seen from there, the school room, and the dining room! GREAT poster!!
I love all the ideas the Mason Jars was great and very happy and the Poster especially in black and white is a great reminder of putting others before ourselves and living together honoring each other. It would be a great !!
This WILL be hanging at the top of the stairs that we pass numerous times per day, replacing my hand-scratched “house rules” sign. Love it!
I would hang the poster in my living room as a reminder for my family & friends!
I would hang it on the back door going into my garage so every time someone walks out the door they are reminded!!!! It can also be seen from the kitchen and that seems to be where people congregate! LOVE IT!!!!
I just recently had my 3 grandchildren for a 10 day visit. I’m sure they would have commented on such a poster if I had mounted it on the back side of the bathroom door! Isn’t that a place we all have a few minutes (some more than a few) 🙂 to do some reflecting?!?!?
I’m excited to hear a new book is on its way to the Christian book store. Blessings to you!
P S … I love the mason-flower- lemon slice decoration– do refreshing.
I would love to have this in my hallway or maybe even the kitchen!
Yay your book is done! I’d hang it in the entry hallway where we and guests would see it every day!
I LOVE this poster! I would hang it in my entry way…so that every time the kids (that have moved back in with me for 18 months) walked in the door they would see it…and see the LOVE JESUS as the first, most important thing. =)
I love this poster!! I would hang it in the mud room, because it would be a good reminders coming and going through out our day!! Love the Friday favorites! 🙂
I would hang this print in my kitchen. As a homeschool mom, we spend our mornings around the kitchen table–this poster would be seen by all and serve as a great reminder!
I’m thinking either the kitchen or family room.
Congratulations on finishing your book 🙂 I would hang this in my kitchen. For me the kitchen is the heart of the family and the house. So a gentle reminder of how we roll!! In a place we fill our bellies..
Love the poster!!! I’m not a good decision maker so I’ve decided on a few places that the poster would work wonderfully! My entry way so that my family could read it as they leave for the day ; it would b an encouragement to all if us as we face our days. And as we come in from a long day the poster would make us smile b/c we choose to follow an amazing God. My second choice would b the main bathroom as my girls get ready for school to encourage them to live for Jesus! And my final option would b in my dining room front and center on the wall so we could all see the poster each and everyday as we sit at the table. The poster would not only encourage but also spark conversations about Jesus and our attitudes and behavior.
Thank you for the encouragement !
As I hear my two arguing in the next room, I’ll try to type this quickly. I would put it in our kitchen. It seems to be where everyone hangs out the most and you can see it from the family room.
I’d hang it right beside the kitchen table where the girls eat breakfast every morning!
I love the poster. I would put it in my children’s room so we could refer to it every night during our sharing time before bed.
Excited about the online Bible study too! My first one.
I would hang that fabulous poster in the main downstairs hallway. That way we would all see it as we come and go throughout the day. My husband and I need the reminders just as much as the kids do!
Love this poster! I would hang it in our kitchen right where we spend most of our time as a family!
Love this poster- love the reminders it brings to mind. I would hang it in my kitchen.
Have a great weekend.
Since our son is 22, I would love to give this as a gift to the young new Christian mom of a 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl that I am mentoring. It would be so appropriate and I know a sweet blessing to her as she is always finding creative ways to teach them good values and God’s ways.
The poster is such a great reminder! I would hang it up in my son’s room.
Since both my boys seem to spend a lot of time in this room, I’d hang it in their bathroom.
Wow! I really want one of these 🙂 I have 3 boys and man sometimes they just aren’t nice to each other. If I had this poster I’d hang it in our family room.
I would hang this in the hall near the bedroom doors so it would be the first thing we all see in the morning when we emerge for the day and the last thing we see before prayers and goodnight kisses.
I LOVE this poster! I would hang it in the hallway right by the door to the garage… we would see it as we go out and as we come back in. This is probably the most “high traffic” area of the house!
In the family room where we hang out.
There is a momentary break in the rain and I just ushered the kiddos outside, so I will type this quick! I would hang it in our entryway…. It would be the first thing you see entering our home from front door or garage entrance and also visible from kitchen table! What a great reminder of our identity in Christ! Now quick … lets all go outside and grab some vitamin D while it lasts 😉
That poster would hang beautifully on my forehead this morning. I needed that reminder just now. Thank you.
No doubt. Right in plain view of everyone!
I love this poster. I would hang it in the living room where it can be seen, read and be a remnder to all of us.
Right in our hallway! The central place everyone has to pass through for a nice reminder 🙂
I would put this in the “grand central station” of our home…..the kitchen! It has pretty much the same things that I tell my kids(and myself if I am truthful ;0) all the time it seems like!
Thanks Lysa for sharing! If it’s any consultation we are “swimming” in the rain too!
I would hang this poster in the hallway leading to my kitchen. I am hopeful to one day(after my 2nd baby is born) stencil my kitchen table with my favorite verse “Do everything in love” 1 Corinthians 16:14 and these family rules would be a perfect leading up to it.
I would post this in the hallway leading to our guest room so everyone visiting knows what we believe as a family. 🙂
I would have to place it in our entry way for all to see!
I would love to hang that on the entry way wall into my house where all of my people could see it everyday, several times a day. Thanks for making it available.
I’d hang this close to my front door and near our guest bathroom so that all our guests and friends that use the potty and our family can see it daily!
On the wall directly in front of the toilet!!! It would definitely be seen by all!! 🙂
What a great poster! We would hang it in our kitchen for sure
Hallway leading to their bedrooms! Perfect spot as they walk to their bedrooms to think about their actions.
I would hang this great poster in our hall “powder” room. It is a room that is visited regularly by everyone who comes to our home….especially our six grandchildren….it is good “reading material” for all of us, reminding us that Christ’s love in us should so visible that no one could miss it.
This has been our family’s most difficult week-ever. While I am grateful for all my children, truly, and know that others go through much worse circumstances, our hearts are broken, and little minds are confused. My husband and I had to ask our eldest child to move out of our home and she did so last Sunday. I know God has carried us through this, along with so many others who are praying for us, but we really need a restart with a strong return to a Godly foundation. As my husband and I harness our strength and heal our hearts we simultaneously will be pulling the other kids to a place of healing and wholeness. I would love for each of my family members to be able to glance and glance at the poster hanging in our pottery barn- inspired office, craft and music room so often that eventually the words on the poster are ingrained into our hearts and pour out from us in acts of grace and love for His purposes. A little heavy, perhaps, but that’s where my heart is today.
It would be where everyone could see it. Most likely the pantry door. I really could’ve used this Wed. morning. Thankfully, after a family discussion, things are better.
I would bring it to work with me and hang it on my cubicle wall along with my sign that says “Rejoice in the Lord, Always!” I want everyone I work with to see that I’m a Jesus girl! “Alleluia, He lives in me!”
It would hang in the front hallway. Be a great i. reminder in our new home.
I would hang it in the kitchen/family room (they are together in our new house). We spend a lot of time there – and I need to be reminded to have a good attitude too 🙂
Great poster! I would hang one in every room, including my classroom, if I had the option! What child (and sometimes parents) don’t need reminders that this poster brings!?
It a place where everyone who enters our home will see it!
Love all the ideas, especially the flower. centepiece! I love thecidea of the poster. I think we would hang in my kitchen or the playroom. These 2 rooms is where I spend the most time. Hey – I need a reminder too! (O:
Right when you walk into the house. Why not remind all who enter?
I would post it in my kitchen dinning room area where my kids and everybody that come through can see it. 😉
I am a church secretary so I would hang it in my office. What a good reminder to not only your family but to people who work in ministry!!
I would hang this in kitchen/dining room. It’s kind of one big open space together. I love it!
I love the poster! Such a great reminder for ALL of us, not just the kids! I would hang it in the family/dining area so we would see it every day 🙂
I love the poster! I would hang it in my kitchen so everyone could see it.
I would hang this on my bedroom wall facing my right side (which I usually sleep on). Then I would see this the first thing before I get up in the morning and the last thing before I go to sleep at night. Praise the Lord!!
I love this poster! I would hang it in our fireplace room. 🙂
I would hang it in our playroom
I would hang it next to the TV!!! Haha!
I’d hang it in the bathroom shared by my two biggest “arguers”, Dan and Mike!
Oh wow! Right in the entry way!!! Beautiful reminders!
Love love the Family Rules poster…what a great reminder for the whole household..look at throughout the day as you walk by it..
I love this poster!
It would grace my kitchen as this is the place where we are gathered together most often and where I sit with my guests – great conversation piece and something to help share the gospel!
I would hang it by the front door so that is the first thing everyone sees!
I would place it on the fireplace mantle in my living room. It is the focal point of the room and one of the first things people see when they walk into our home.
I would hang it either in my living room or kitchen.
I would hang this in my kitchen or family room!! I love it!! I’ve wanted one that says these things!!
I have the perfect wall in our foyer for this wall hanging!
I would hang it in the kitchen where we all could see it all the time! 🙂 love it!
I love this family rules poster! I’d hang this in our family room.
I love, love, love the Family Rules Poster. I would hang it in the kitchen as a simple reminder. We gather in the kitchen daily for meals around the table where we can talk about what’s going on in our lives.
I would put it by our door so we could see it BOTH coming and going! What a great compilation!!!!!
I would love this in my living room of my new home….we close middle of August!!
I LOVE the sign. I would hang it in the hallway
I would put this in our kitchen right next to the table we eat our meals at. Or possibly in the family room next to my chair. Both rooms are connected, just not sure which place would be more visible!
I would hang it in our family room, where we spend the most time together, as a reminder of how blessed we are to be a family!!
I would hang it in our school room!! LOVE it!!
Our family of seven will be moving into a much needed much larger home at the end of the summer. And I can’t think of a better set of rules that are so perfect for our family’s new home! What a perfect way to begin a new chapter and new season of our life!
In the process of moving to our new home, our first ever purchased home. I would hang it in my breakfast nook so we can make sure to see it many times a day. Love these family rules!
I would put this in my dining area as it seems to be the place we spend most of our time … it would be a blessed addition to my home … thank you Lysa for your timely and thought-provoking devotions and blogs. God bless !
I’d hang it in the hall my family passes through several times a day!
I would post it in my family room, where we spent the most time together. It’s not just a reminder for our children; it’s a reminder to my husband and I as well. With all the busyness everyday, it would be a daily reminder about what’s REALLY important.
I would hang it in the family room as a daily reminder.
I would hang it in my kitchen because that is where we all get together, it’s where we enter our home so it would be the first thing we see. It’s where we leave our home so it would be a great reminder as we leave. Our kitchen is where we are busiest so it would helps us to enjoy each other and truly remember what’s important! Our 3 girls would love it and of course I would too 🙂
Would hang it above the couch!
I LOVE these prints! We have a couple in my kids’ playroom – this one would go in my kitchen – its been the hubbub of traffic this summer with husband home, kids over hanging out – and birthday parties… we are ALWAYS in the kitchen! Thanks for sharing it! AND Congratulations! I cannot wait until the new book comes out!
In my family room on the wall right between the window and the staircase that leads the way up to my children’s bedrooms….easily visible during the day and a reminder as they are headed up the stairs to their rooms all the time.
I would hang this either in my foyer or living room. I love it!!
This would hang like a beacon on our wall in my twins playroom where All can see and be set as a reminder for us all
I would hang this awesome poster on the column in our front entryway. It is literally the first thing you see when you walk in the front door! I think it would serve as an incredible reminder to all who enter our home!
I LOVE it! Congrats on finishing the book and getting it all turned in the hard work will be worth it in the end 🙂 I would hang this in my living room not only as a reminder to my family and my lovely three boys but as a reminder to everyone that comes to my home. Many blessing to you!
I would hang this in our living room. It would match the décor in there perfectly. Plus it is the one place in our home where we gather together to just “be” a family! 🙂
LOVE this poster! We are moving in two months and this would be great in our family room/ homeschool classroom 🙂
I would hang it at the end of the hall next to the bedroom doors. That way each time we all went into our rooms, we would be reminded.
I would place this great poster in our dining room, a place we walk through often. Awesome reminder!
In the Kitchen–near the eating area where it could be seen by all including this Mamma who often needs the reminders most! 🙂
I would hang this in the playroom to serve as a constant reminder to my children (and me, too!).
I would place this over my fireplace. A visible place for all to see daily! Thank you for sharing and congrats on getting your book finished!
I would hang this in my kitchen, because that is where we tend to spend the most time as a family. It is also the room we all pass through every time we leave or enter our house. What a great visual reminder and encouragement!
I would hang this in our entryway or right next to our kitchen/dinnette. Both have high traffic and this would be seen often. It would probably look better in our entryway, but I think it would be more useful by the kitchen!
I would hang this amazing poster in my entry way, just outside the living room, so that it gets maximum exposure. 🙂
Family Room. Above the fireplace!
I would put it right in our doorway when you come in you read it, when you leave you read it.
I would hang this in our dining room, since most of our conversations are there about struggles we have and blessings.
I would put it right in front of our bed so that my hubby and I could look at it each night for encouragment each and every night during this very difficult time in our lives.
Love this, such perfect reminders, all in one! I’d hang it halfway up the stairs, perfect focal point in my home. Blessings!
I live in a studio loft and have my desk nestled nicely underneath my stairwell. I’d hang the poster there, since this is where I do a lot of my work and spend my prayer time. I’m excited to win! God bless 🙂
I would hang our “rules” in our kitchen, which is black and white, so it fits perfectly!
This poster would be in the hub of our home – the kitchen – so that our family could see it, but also so that friends and family could see it when they come over, and know who we are and what we stand for. Might even open up an opportunity for sharing the gospel!
I would hang this in our dining room. The epicenter of out house.
I would hang it in my living room to remind my girls of what they should strive for every day!!
I would post it in my camper because we spend most of our summer in it and the kids (young and old) often need the reminders!
We have an open concept kitchen and living room, so I would put it there, that way everyone would see it all the time 🙂
I would put it in my dinning room/Kitchen area that is were we spend most of our time.
Thanks for the good ideas.
Love it! Would place it in our kitchen or dining area. Would become a reminder to us as we dive into the adventure of homeschooling this year.
I LOVE it! Congrats on finishing the book and getting it all turned in 🙂 I would hang this in my living room not only as a reminder to my family and my lovely three boys but as a reminder to everyone that comes to my home. Many blessing to you!
I would hang this in my living room, where were at all the time so it can stare us in the face 😉
At first I thought how great that poster would be in the entryway, but then I realized the people who need it the most (my own family) never use the front door!! I would put it in the kitchen because given the amount of food being consumed this summer, I’m pretty sure the kids have taken up residence in there!!!
I would hang this in my kitchen, where we spend the most time as a family. What a great visual reminder and encouragement!
I would hang it in the sunroom where we spend the most time.
I would hang this in our eat in kitchen area. It’s straight in from our front door, and right by our dinner table. We have experienced some troubled times where Biblical standards have been comprised and has my children a bit confused with things. I love the poster that Lysa showed in the picture next to the black and white curtains……right what our family needs!
I would hang it in my kitchen since that is where we spend a majority of our time! Such a great reminder!
I would post it right inside the door of my home. That way everyone who came in could see it and be encouraged by it.
In our living room, so it’s the most visible to the children! And us!! 😀
I would put it on my mantle. I have been looking for one just like this!
I love this poster!! I would hang it in my living room!! Congrats on finishing your book!
Love this…I would definitely hang it in the kitchen!
I would hang it on the door going into the kitchen. This door is at the base of the staircase that we ALL have to come down to start our day
I would hang it in my dining room where we will all be together during meals and we can reflect on the words together as a family. 🙂
Love it. It should hang in every room. Definitely in living room or dining room.
Love your decorating tips! Very creative!
I’d hang the Family Rules in my Living Room on the main wall as the vocal point of the room. Regardless of whether a situation is happening at that moment or not, this is a great reminder of how our responses should be with family, friends, and strangers! God Bless!
Love this! Would love to make this part of our gallery wall (in the making) above our couch.
Thanks for the giveaway.
I would put this in my daughters dorm room. She goes away to college for the first time in a few weeks. I just know that every time she looks at it, she’ll think of me and know that even though I am not there I am thinking of her too!! It would also inspire her to be Christlike in all situations. I m so proud of her, and how strong her faith is in our Saviour, Jesus Christ!! What an awesome opportunity this would be to share Jesus with those who share a room with her. Thank you for all that you do and God Bless!!
I would hang it in our dining room. Because we sit and eat as a family EVERY day and it would be a perfect reminder of what out family is about. AND our dining room is open to the kitchen and living room and you could see it from any room. 🙂
Love this!! First thing I see is love Jesus! I would hang it on wall between kitchen and family room where we walk by multiple times a day!
Family room. Because that’s where the family is most of the time. 🙂
Definitely the kitchen! That’s where we all seem to hang out!
I’ve been looking for something black and white to hang next to a window in a bedroom and this would be absolutely perfect!
I would love, love to hang this in my kitchen area…the heart of the house. Everyone would see it and be reminded every day. I would love to have a similar one for my classroom at school. I teach at a private Christian school and most of the sayings would work there as well! My favorite line is “Love Jesus” at the top 🙂
We live in such a visual age. This poster, hanged prominently in our foyer so we would notice it every time we go up or down the stairs, would serve as a daily reminder!
I know exactly where! My boys have a small wall in their bathroom that is completely bare (shame on this mom with a degree in Interior Design, right?!) I would totally hang it there so it’s the first thing my boys see each morning and the last thing they see before bed.
I would hang it in my kitchen/family room area so all could see.
In the family room! Where we teach by example!
I would hang it on the long ceiling to floor wall at bottom of stairs so I would see it while I walked down the stairs and before I left the house each day! LOVE!
In our kitchen, by the garage door, where we will see it whenever we go out or come in!
I would hang it in our play room; we spend most of the time in there and I could point to this when the arguments start!
I would hang this Awesome picture in the center of all our pictures! What a great reminder!
I would hang it in my kitchen/dining area since that is the area you find where we gather together the most. Whether it’s our family meals, to home work, or doing fun projects together that dining area is our gathering place. Such great words to follow in that poster. Living them out- even better.
In the kitchen-we would see it all the time!
In the kitchen, where everyone could see it!
I would hang it right in the kitchen because that is where our family spends most of our time!
Congrats on finishing the book! I’m in the middle of a four week condensed college class and am ready to have fun in the sun again too!
I have a spot on my living room wall that is totally blank and begs me all the time to hang something on it! This sign would be perfect. My mom had plaques with Bible verses on them in our living room (They are now in a hallway!) but those verses have stuck with me throughout the years, the first two words of this sign are something I would want my boys to hold onto first and foremost throughout their life!
In our house we hold family meetings in the dining room. That is the most logical place for us to eat, pray, and love. I think this poster would enhance our time together around the dinner table.
I would hang it somewhere my 3 girls would see it often as a reminder of what we need to remember and stand for in the new phase of our lives… Thanks for being such a comfort in my life at the moment and congrats on new book 😉
I would love to hang it in my kitchen area. That’s where we all hang out the most! 🙂
I would hang this in my family room which is the hub of my home. Open to the kitchen and all who enter will be able to see it.
I would hang it at the bottom of our steps. As we come down to start each new day that’s been given, we would see this and be reminded of how we roll…
I would put in my kitchen or family room. The places I spend the most time with my family. Love it.
I would put it in my dining room, because it could be seen from most of the upstairs. 🙂
This poster would be perfect in our family room!
I’d hang it on the wall between the family room and kitchen!
I would hang in my living room
I have the perfect place in our family room to hang this poster! It would be a daily reminder to our family that we all should choose to make the right decisions even when we don’t feel like it!
I would leave it the kitchen/breakfast area! That’s where we spend the most time together as a family.
I would put it by our front door so it is a reminder when coming and going:)
I would hang it in the kid’s bathroom! Sounds funny, but I can remember a similar type picture hanging in my bathroom as a kid and I had it memorized because that was the only thing to look at!!
I would hang this in my kitchen/dining room. Its is where we have most of our discussions. We need this reminder a lot right now. Say a prayer for me & my family, please.
I would hang this in our dining room because that’s where my son and I spend so much time. 🙂
I would hang it in my kitchen ~ where my kids and I are often…so we can be reminded!
Breakfast room…for everyone to see!
I would put this in my hall-it would be seen countless times during the day and would be a focal point from our living/dining room. 🙂 love what all is on it!
We seem to spend the majority of our time in the kitchen so I would hang it there. I would love to have this poster, it says so many things that we are trying to teach our children.
I LOVE the poster! I would hang it in my entry way so everyone knows our family rules as they come in. If I don’t win it, is there the option to buy?
I would definitely put this in my kitchen because that is where my family is ALWAYS;-) We talk a lot about our attitudes towards others every morning and that we chose our attitude and that we control it no matter the circumstance! Thank you for posting this!! Can’t wait for your new book.
I’d put that baby prominently in our homeschool room. Love it!
I would hang it right by my front door. So many arguments end with someone stomping out the door and slamming it shut behind them. I want this to be what catches their eye as they head toward the door to remind them to turn around and forgive. This is a beautiful sign.
I too would hang it right in my kitchen! Thanks for the chance to win!
I would hang it in the great room area where we are all the time next to my cross collection.
I LOVE this poster! It’s the epitomy of what I’ve tried (and failed at sometimes) to uphold in my family of two! And although my son is 16 years old (just a mere 2 years left with him!), I would totally hang this above my fireplace beside the picture of him, to be reminded daily (and always) what our tiny family, every family, and the one he will have some day needs to live by. I would love to have this in my home! 🙂
Right inside my front door to welcome people into our home!
I would hang it in my living room or kitchen so we can always see it 🙂
We just moved from Ohio to Michigan due to my husbands job transfer. I would love to hang this in the family room of our new home! We are feeling a bit homesick and I think this would be a lovely statement to make our new house feel like “home”
I would hang the picture in our family room riight next to my black & white curtains…just like the photo you posted! In our Sunday School class this year, my husband challenged us to make a family mission statement. We also talked about posting a set of family “qualities” that fell under our mission statement. I’ve been on the hunt for one. The family rules poster you are givingaway is a perfect fit!
I would put this right in my living room. I love the sign!
I’d make it a part of a gallery wall in my living room!
I love it! I would put it in our kitchen/entry way because it would be seen on a minute to minute basis all day every day! Homeschooling five kids this year with one staying in public school, we will be looking at our kitchen walls A LOT this year! 🙂
In the kitchen where we spend most of our time homeschooling, socializing and eating! Love this!
We use our downstairs as a hangout place and call it the “Fam Cave.” That is where we would put it!!
I would put it in the hallway between my kids’ rooms!!
I wouldhang onthe wall in family/dinning area as a gentle testimony to friends and family and Love reminder for the five grandchildren! Love this!
We are ALWAYS in the kitchen, so that would be the place I would put it. Congrats on the new book! Cannot wait to check it out!
I believe this would be perfect for my dining room. We recently repainted it, have our family photos in there, and it’s where we’re all together for mealtime. There’s also a blank space on the wall that would be just the right place for it 🙂
I would hang it in our main room/living room. Our house is all open and you can see everything from everywhere. Our home is a place where people come to rest and just soak in the spirit, and I think this would just complete our room, and show people WHY our home is that way – because we follow those rules.
I would hang this in my kitchen where we would walk by it a thousand times a day!
I would hang it in our dining room- which is also our homeschool 😉 What a great piece of ‘curriculum’ to look at everyday!
Would hang this in my “makeshift” Entryway.
Love it!! Congrats on finishing your book!
I love this! I actually have been wanting to get this for quite some time. I know the perfect spot in my dining room area that’s open to the living room, on a wall surrounded by family photos in black photo frames! Thanks for the opportunity! Can I also say “Made to Crave” and “Unglued” have helped me more than you can imagine! Can’t wait for your next book! Congrats!
Congratulations on completing your book-yay! As a result of your shard thoughts of your book, I am excited to purchase it.
The Family Rules Poster I would like to hang it in my living room, a place where we entertain and talk, it will be a great reminder to all who live and visit here, (:
I would hang it on my living room next to my family photo so that everyday when we were in the living room we can see how much our family means to us and it will remind us of how wonderful the. LORD is
Love this! I would put this in my living room.
This is a wonderful poster to use. I would put this in my family room as a constant reminder. Also there is no debating if the rules are clearly posted. Its not just for discipline but for remembering good qualities that we all need to demonstrate–not just kids. 🙂
What a WONDERFUL reminder of Jesus love AND family love!! I would hang this in our living room as everyone passes through our living room each time they come into our home they would be blessed by the message too!
I’m so very proud of you, Lysa! You have done so much for me and all your girlfriends! Thank you for sharing your life with us! <3 ~ Molly
I would hang it in the kitchen. And refer to it often. If I dont win this, I am going to make one of these myself. It wont look as nice, but it is much needed and will be a great reminder to us all.
Love this poster, Lysa!! I’d hang it above our TV so it can easily be referred to between video games & commercials!
I would put it on the wall in our living room where it can be seen each time we pass through. We all need those reminders!
Yay! So glad you finished your book !! I love this and I would hang it in my kitchen where everyone congregates . It’s the hub of our home. Lots of love!
I would hang it between my kitchen and living area. Our floor plan is so open that I don’t have many walls. I have been very selective to find just the right piece for my walls…and have a few blank ones waiting. I like the layout and words selected…positive rules. I have pinned the idea to make my own however it’s been a year and it hasn’t happened. This is nicely designed. LOVE!
I would put it in my family room! We spend a lot of time there. Also I absolutely love the first rule. I want my kids to be reminded of it all the time. They would see it every morning and afternoon and hopefully evening before we go to bed.
I would want to tattoo it on my forehead. (Or my husbands)
I would hang it in my kitchen by the window. I have an empty wall that needs something on it and my children and I need a gentle reminder about how we are to live our lives. My husband left two years ago and I worry constantly about making sure that my girls grow up with the right values and beliefs.
Actually, I agree with Dawn. What is one of the things that people do when they are in the bathroom? They read! My little granddaughter is always asking me to read a book to her when she is sitting on her potty seat.
I would hang it in the center of my living room wall over the couch…it would be the centerpiece of the room!!
I would hang this where it would be seen the most…as a reminder to love Jesus first and foremost, and then as a reminder to just do it. I believe our heart believes what our eyes see…and our ears hear…
We Just completed A Very Long Painting Project! This Poster Would Look Awesome In OIt Piano Room Which Is The Very First Room People See When They Come In The Door!
In the living room…where it would be seen the most. :)))
Can’t wait to read the new book! If I won I would totally put this at the top of my stairs at the entry way so everyone would see it who came to visit (including my kids who would have to walk past it multiple times a day!)
I would love to hang this in my kitchen or entryway!
I love the family rules !! I would hang them in the family room for all to see.
This poster is absolutely the best! I would hang it up in our kitchen (there is only one spot it could go) so our sons would be constantly reminded of that their daily actions matter to all those around them. It is perfect! Thanks!
I’m thinking the original “reading” room, as well. The bathroom!
I would hang the poster in the spot above our couch, so it’s the first thing you see when you walk into the family room! It goes with our other black and white things hanging up, and we can see it from our homeschool room! 🙂
It would be perfect!!
I would hang this in our kitchen. Such a wonderful reminder for my trio and their momma too! Thanks for encouraging and inspiring, Lysa. 🙂
Congratulations on finishing your book! Can’t wait to read it! 🙂
I would hang this near the back door, so we would remember our family rules as we head out into the world for the day.
This would look great in my living room. Our decor is bronze and black. I have one wall that needs a little longer picture to help fill it in. This would be perfect !
I would hang it in our family room, where we all spend most of our time so that it will be read frequently 🙂
I would hang it on the wall above the stair case, that way everyone would see it as the go downstairs and start the day. 🙂
I would hang it in our family room…for easy/often reference 🙂
This poster would hang in my family room, right by the tv. I can’t think of a wall that gets stared at more in our home. I love the poster – it reflects the values of our home, especially the dance silly! As a single mom, household, sometimes we just need the joy that crazy dancing brings. Thank you for sharing the rules 🙂
Where I would hang this great family rules poster kind of depends on how big it is. If it’s not huge I would hang it in the main bathroom. I know, kind of an odd place, but we had a little sayings poster in our bathroom growing up and the saying has always stuck with me because I read it so many times.lol. If it’s larger then I would hang it above our piano/music area. I have a few inspirational pieces hanging there already, but it’s still missing something great. That little area is my favourite spot in my house. My kids and I love to gather there and sing and dance and just be.
Most definitely in the kitchen where we spend the most time!
In the bathroom in front of the “seat” … Its sure to have our frequent and (almost) undivided attention in that spot.
I want to hang it in the area between the kit hen and family room! It’s the center of the house!
I would hang this in our game room/entrance from the carport, so that everyone would see it when they entered. It’s how we live in my house, especially with 4 boys!!
I would hang this in my bathroom BC this is the first place we visit each day!
I’d hang it in my DAUGHTER’s family room in her house! It would help all of them and it’s beautiful! My grandson turned two a couple of months ago. I’d LOVE for him to grow up under these rules!
I would hang this in my living room, since my living, dining, and kitchen are all open to one another. You could see it at anytime. And with a little on the way, it will good for them to grow up seeing that. 🙂
I would put this on the mantle above the fireplace so that when anyone passed through it would be at eye level with them and would gently nudge them to remember what we should be doing with our lives. LOVE THIS POSTER 🙂
I love this poster! I would hang it in our family room as so many of our guests gather. It offers great conversation starters for our friends who may not know The Lord and its a sweet reminder of how He desires us to live daily!
I would hang the ‘Family Rules’ poster in the hallway leading to our bedrooms and bathroom. The children pass through the hallway numerous times throughout the day and they would see it multiple times. My husband was just reminding me that we need to instill proper values into our children. We must start at home if we expect them to reciprocate to the world. Have A Great Summer! XO
I would hang it in the living room by the craft/play corner. Although single & in my 30s, I’m licensing to become a foster parent because my heart beats (and aches) for these kids. I’m terrified but also excited. It’s strange to have a tug on your heart to do something that doesn’t make sense but you believe is coming from the Lord. I’ve never been a parent and I have tons of questions about how this is going to work out. But right now, I’m just telling God yes and trusting Him to guide my steps. I was introduced to your writing recently when a girl in the small group I lead, asked if we could go through your Unglued study. We used your DVDs and talked through the study. What a blessing you are! Thank you for using your gift of writing to encourage women in their faith and to point them to Christ. I look forward to reading more from you. Grace and peace to you.
I would hang it in our living room. In our small house the living room is the center of activity and can also be the center of many squabbles. What a great constant reminder this would be. I have always wanted a piece of art with a Bible verse or something similar on it, but have yet to settle on the verse that strikes my heart for our family. This wold be a fantastic start!
I’d hang it right in the main living area: kitchen, dining, family room all together. It’d be a great reminder every single day 🙂
I would frame this for in the eating area of the kitchen – where we hang out as a family.
I would either hang it on our enclosed porch/entryway or our eat-in-kitchen to see it every day. Thanks for the chance to win.
I would put it in my kitchen, because that is where we spend the majority of our time as an family, together.
This beauty will hang in the wall space between my sliding door to deck and the end of my kitchen cupboards – a highly trafficked location.
I would hang it in the dining/living area!
At least I think I will. We are relocating and do not have a home yet, but I assume out new home will have a dining/living are! Lol
And it would be awesome to have something ready and waiting to hang in our new home!
I would hang it in my living room for all to see. So that not only would my family be inspired by the words but also those that visit may also be inspired by the words.
I LOVE this!! I would put it above our shoe cubby in the entryway. We would see it coming in and going out 🙂 I’ve wanted to get a rules poster for a long time now. Not sure who it’d be more helpful for, US, or the kids lol!
I would hang it in my livig room. As a family of 9, we have a LOT of traffic going through there, and 5 boys (age 7-15) & 2 girls (age 13 & 5) (well, ok, me too!) tend to need a constant reminder of how a close-knit family can present a unified front and glorify God in our actions!! 😉
I would hang it our hallway – so we could read it as we leave the house and it would be there as the “rules” when anybody enters the house!
I would hang it in the living room, we have an open floor plan and spend the most time in the living room. So, we could see it all the time 🙂 I love this saying!!
I would love to hang this in our entrance hall. I would love to have it as a reminder that when we enter our house we live different than others, but I also want to remind our family that those are the same rules we live by in the world. Coming and going we live by God’s rules and we treat others like family. It would really be a great way for our friends and guest to see what we believe and hopefully to see why we are different. Thank you so much for your post! Some days I know God is using you to speak to me and change my thoughts and behavior.
I’d hang it in between the kitchen and dining area… You could see it from almost anywhere downstairs that way! 🙂
I would hang in my kitchen as well…this is where we gather and spend the most time as a family…having conversations, working on homework, the computer is in the kitchen, etc.
I’d hang it in the entryway of my home. A reminder as they walk in – on what is expected in my home.
Stairway! We go up and down at least a dozen or more times a day! That gives us each about 24 times round trip, to be reminded of those truths and be encouraged to live them out! 🙂
I would hang it above our backpack and coat& key hooks- first place we stop when we come in, last place we stop when we go out! Great reminders for each day!
I’d love to hang this poster at the end of my hallway! We’d see it every time we walk in the front door plus as the kids go from their rooms to their bathroom.
I would hang this in our family room to remind us what makes us a great family.
I would hang this family rules posted in foyerIt would be a daily reminder for myself and for all my guest. I love design and would love this little jewel to be apart of my daily routine.
Thanks a bunch Lisa for your blogs, books and just your daily encouragement.
I wound hang this poster right on my front porch as a reminder to me and my kids and all who enter what our home is founded on. The home is a sanctuary and its so easy to allow the worlds standards into the home…entering the home with a positive cheerful reminder of Christ’s love, would be awesome!!! 🙂
I’d hang this in the kitchen, right above the island. That’s a place of pride in our house and it would hand loud and proud for all to see.
I would hang it in our living/family room so we can see it often! It seems like a different family member needs to be reminded each day! One day it’s my girl, the next it’s my boy. Some days we parents need to be reminded as well!
I’d place it in my dining room where we do homeschool. That way my kids AND MYSELF can see it! 🙂 I need it as much as them. Mommy grace.
I would hang it in our kitchen/eating area. That is where we gather usually and I would want it to be a constant reminder to all of my children!
I would love this poster to hang in my home. I would hang it in the hallway outside of all the bedrooms. We would all see this each morning as we started each new day and in the evening as we got ready to end the day. I believe having this as a reminder to us all, it would be great. Thanks for the chance at a free poster.
I would put this right on top of our mantel – the center of our family room in the center of our main floor, where it would be seen daily by our two children as well as my 17 piano students and their families. Powerful reminders!
I’d hang this in my master bedroom-I love it!! And it goes with the black, white, and red color scheme ;).
These rules are good for everyone, not just small children! Especially now that my kids are older, I want them to remember these words are important as they learn to relate to one another in a whole new way.
I would hang it in our kitchen…right where everyone is and everyone gathers!
I would hang this in my foyer so we can see it as we come and go. We all need daily reminders… Thanks!
I’d hang it in my closet (since I don’t yet have a family to share it with) – so that while I’m getting ready for the day, I can remind myself of the person Jesus is shaping me to be. 🙂
Getting ready to have my kitchen redone and this would make it complete. Along with my Chevron curtains. )?
I would hang it at the top of the stairs so that everyone can see it as they rise up in the am. Also, that way we are reminded that we are apart of a family and that Jesus loves us no matter what.
I would hang it by our dining room table as a dinner conversation starter and as a way to get our family to “think” about what our behavior or responses could be.
In my living room. It would be the first thing people see when they walk into my home.
I would hang this in our walk way from living room to kitchen. I have our homeschool rules and home rules there along with our god’s promises that we have memorized:)
I have three little boys and I would hang it in our family room so we could read it together often!!
This would be PERFECT in our kitchen, which actually is almost a perfect match of Lysa’s FB post picture, black and white damask… I LOVE everything it says, and would be a perfect representation of how we are trying to raise our children!
I would hang it in our eat in kitchen where I spend most of my time and most often come unglued. I think it would be a great reminder to me about what we are all about, what we expect from the kids and what I should expect from myself.
Love this print- I’ve been looking for one like it for a while. I would hang it in our dining room/office.
I would hang this in my horse barn. I have an equine assisted counseling program for at-risk teen girls at my horse farm. We work on tough issues – self-harm, sexual abuse, abandonment, addictions, unhealthy relationships–and this list would be a perfect way to initiate conversations about Jesus with the girls and explain the loving boundaries He has given us to live life well.
Oh my goodness! I would love to have that! I would hang it in our living room, of course!
I love your blog, your words of wisdom and your funny stories. Thanks so much for continuing to write! <3
I have been trying to find a “house rules” poster/canvas like this at Target, Home Goods, etc but have not been able to find one that I like all of the rules. I love the first line and last three! 🙂 Its perfect especially the second line (something we are working on with our kiddos) Like I said…PERFECT!! and perfect for our new house! I would put this in our Dining Room where we gather most as a family or in the living room where I want to make our Family Command Center. Thanks!
I would hang it in the Living room…it’s the center of our house and were we spend most of our time! Have been looking for one of these lately! Thx!
I will hang poster on my livingroom wall. I run a daycare in my home and I will want everyone who comes into my home to know who I love.
I’d hang this right near our kitchen table. Not only would our family be reminded of what we are to be about, but when my kids have friends over to share a snack or meal they would see it as well. Love this print!
I love this family rules poster! It’s one not the best I’ve seen. I’m thinking I would hang it in the hallway to the bedrooms so the kiddos can see it every morning. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!
The kitchen! The heart of the home! Love it.
I would hang this great poster right next to our TV in the living room.
By my front door – it would be the first thing seen when we enter, and the last thing when we depart.
LOVE this!!!! Would have it in our soon to be common play area.
I would be it in the kitchen. It is the place where everyone goes several times throughout the day! 😉
I would hang this in our family room where we spend our time together watching tv, playing games, doing devos, This is the room that when the kids are in bed and I look around and see life because there are toys on the floor, things left out from coming home and not putting stuff away from band practice or spending the night with a friend (and of course mom picks it up) This is the room of LIFE in our house and so this would be the room where I would put this picture to remind us of all the important things that are in it.
I would hang this right in the kitchen above our table, so that we would see it many times a day. What sweet reminders! I love this poster art compared to other family rules art I’ve seen because it focuses on Jesus. I would love to have this in my home!
Love this! Would hang in the hallway where it would be surrounded by our family’s pictures!
I’d put it right in the family room.
I would hang this in my kitchen or laundry room! Would be a great reminder for us!!!! 🙂 LOVE IT!!!!!
WE have a loft where we hang out as a family. I would hang it on the wall so we could always see it and be reminded of how we are suppose to be as God’s people.
I would hang it right above our kitchen table so that we could review it every time we have a meal or snack so it will be fresh in our minds all day long.
Either kitchen/living room, both rooms blend together and where we spend majority of our time together!
I would hang this in my entryway so that everyone could see it and so our family could be reminded of it every time we pass by morning noon and night 🙂
hi there lysa, well, now ryan alexander knows all about my ideas for the poster too.
i sent it to him by mistake! this is what i wrote him (poor guy!):
summer is proving to be challenging with my 10 and 12 year old sons at home. i LOVE
the poster and would definitely hang it in my sons’ shared bedroom; as a reminder to them (ok, who am i kidding – me too!) what it looks like to LIVE a believer’s life.
those flowers in the vase were awfully cute too!
congratulations on finishing your new book, lysa!
In the hallway outside of my kids room!
I would hang this in my kitchen. We spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen…especially me! This reminder would help me to remember to hold my tongue when I get upset. Thank you for the opportunity!
This past winter we took down the wall that separated our kitchen & living room/dining room so I’d hang it in our new “great room” where it’d be visible to all, all the time! 🙂
I love it! I would hang this in the dining room since we spend so much time around the table:0)
I love this!! I would hang in the hall way in between my kids room!
I would post it in the breakfast area where we gather every morning to start our day
I would take it with me back to my home in Paraguay and hang it in our dining room/living room/office so that daily, we would be reminded to be examples of HIM!
I would hang this in our kitchen which is right off of the entry. This is the social gathering place in the house, this is where the meals are prepared and served. We just moved in 2months ago and could use a little love on the walls!! thanks.
My entry way so it can be seen coming and going 🙂
My house and the people in it need to see these rules everyday!
I just love this sign! I would hang it in our school room.
Love the family rules have been wanting one to hang in our home in my Living room where my family spends most our time playing games, reading or just hanging out during the day
In the family room of course! After all, they are family rules.
The most central area of the house……the kitchen!!
Actually, I would like to hang this in my office at work. I spend a lot of hours there and would be a great and inspiring message to see. And others to see also!
In our kitchen! That’s where we are most of the time, together! 🙂
Hmmm….I have three places I could hang it. Front entry, on the wall opposite the stairs as you come down as a reminder, or the wall by the table in the eat in kitchen area would be perfect also. Thanks for the chance! Have a blessed weekend!
I would hang the family rules in the livingroom since that is where we spend most of our time. It would probably go over my mantle and be the focal point.
Wow! I love that! I would hang it in our living room. That is where we spend most of our time.
Above my fireplace. It’s the first thing you see when walking into my home.
I would hang this in my living room!
I love this poster! I would probably hang this either in my kitchen or in the family room.
I would hang it in the dining room, we could discuss it over dinner as a family.
Even though my kids are grown, and I have a grandson,I would hang that in my living room as I am a single mom and that is where we do most of our talking.
I would hang it in our family room where the kids play together Wii together and build Legos and where we play board games. All those moments tend to bring out good times together and uuugggly times together. We could all use the reminders on the posters (including mom and dad) 🙂
I would hang it in our kitchen by our table! It is where we spend our family time eating, talking, praying, & playing games! What a wonderful reminder of what our family strives to be! God bless!
We just moved into a new apartment and I have been looking for something just like this to hang in my living room right between two windows! It is a great reminder of God’s love, grace and mercy.
I loooove this!!!! It’d go right in my kitchen. It’s our family’s gathering area. I’d love my grandchildren to read these great positive reminders every time they’re playing at my house. Instilling Jesus in the generations of our families is so important! What a gorgeous piece of art… love love love!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I would definitely hang it in my kitchen. I love this!
I would leave it in my front foyer. It’s a reminder as I leave the house and enter the house who I want to be and the kind of person I hope to be known as.
I would hang the family rules in our kitchen, where it can be seen coming into and going out of our house.
I love this! I need more than one! I thought at first I would put it in the family room so we all could see it. Then I thought to put it in the bedroom so it would be the first and last thing we saw waking up & going to sleep with our prayers. Awesome!
Love it!!! I would hang it in my living room.
I would hang this in the family room as a constant reminder for all of us! 🙂 Love it!
I Would Hang It By The Kitchen Table To Use As A Discussion Starter With The Kids At Mealtimes.
Wonderful rules for all of us! I would hang it in our entrance hallway so it reminds us as we enter our home and leave our home to follow these rules so we can shine the “Light”.
I love this! It would be hung in our living room as a reminder to us all!
Our family would hang this in our kitchen. It is the room everyone enters into and we have about 20 high schoolers at our house at least once a month that this would be a great reminder of how a Christ-centered home should look like
I’d hang it in the family room for all to see!
I would hang it in the kitchen – the family gathering place. Beautiful reminders.
I would hang this in our living/dining space (it’s kind of all one)!
I love it! I would hang it right over our dining room entryway. This entryway happens to also be the first thing you see when you walk in our front door. 🙂
I would place this at the entry way to our home. Since our home is a refuge from this world, the family rules poster will be displayed and me the first thing to catch our family and guests’ attention. The rules are great ones to live by! Thank you for offering this giveaway!
I’d hang it in my upstairs hallway! Love this!
I would put it in my homeschool room. It’s also near the door we come and go from the house, so we will get a reminder as we go out into the world, as well as a reminder each time we come home that this is family.
I would hang it out in our Family Room, its where we all spend the most time together, so it can be read over and over and hopefully memorized too! 🙂
I woul LOVE to hang this in our living room!! It would be awesome to have it on display so that we all could get these “rules” hidden in our hearts!! I’m a tired mom of four young ones and too many times in an UNGLUED moment I miss out on a perfect teaching moment. I’m certain house rules could help me!!!
This would go in my kitchen, definitely. That’s the place where our family is altogether most often and, consequently, where most of our battles take place. I am, however, not opposed to purchasing multiple copies and hanging them all over my house. Love it!
I would hang this in my living room. It’s where we spend most of our time and its a wonderful reminder! And helpful in teaching my kids!
I would put it in my homeschool room. It’s also near the door we come and go from the house, so we will get a reminder as we go out into the world, as well as each time we come home that this is family.
That is so cute! I would love to have it hang in our family room so we will always see it! Such great reminders for all ages!
I would hang the print by our dining room table, so that every time we are together as a family we are reminded of the thoughts and actions the print inspires and urges us to be and do!
I would hang this right inside my front door, so that everyone who entered or exited our house would know the rules! 😉
I would hang it in the dining room. Would be a great discussion piece while eating meals together.
I really need to replace the dusty outdoor arrangement I have hanging on the wall in our master bedroom. I love the fall leaves and great smell when I first put it up, but now it’s faded, dusty and ick. Would love to make this the focal point of an arrangement including black and white family photos. Feeling very nostalgic as I send my first child to college this fall….
I love it! I would hang it in our family room where our ping pong table is. Our family is very competitive, and many of those rules can be applied to losing AND winning:) I have to admit that my husband and I need the reminders almost as often as our boys do!
I love this picture! I would hang it in my bathroom. It makes a great read while you’re waiting to do the paperwork.
I would hang this near the dining table, where we spend so much time and have the most meaningful discussions. Or in the playroom once my kids can read… but they probably won’t be playing in there at that point… so in the dining room. Thanks Lysa!
I would love to give this to a friend of mine. She has helped me find my back to Christ and never stopped praying for me through some difficult times.
I will put it by the computer my daughter uses aa a reminder to keep our eyes on Jesus 🙂
I would hang this right at the front door… so that all entering my home “know the rules” and know to Whom my family belongs. And it would be a reminder as we leave the house… everything we say and do is to bring honor and glory to King Jesus!
We were just certified to be foster parents, and this would be so perfect for our new additions! I would hang by our kitchen table.
I would hang this amazing poster in my kitchen for not only my family to see but our friends and neighbors that frequently visit! I love it!
By my front door or by the dry erase calendar board. We would see it every day.
I would hang it on the wall connecting the dining room to our kitchen. It’s also visible from the living room that way too!
In my kitchen! It’s the heart of the family and these ideas belong in our hearts!
Thanks for the opportunity! I would hang it at the top of our stairs.
I would hang this in our dining room, so every time we’re sitting at the table we would re-read these rules.
I would love to hang this in my living room. I have recently rededicated my life to Jesus. I am a stepmother to 4, and mother of 2, so 6 kids!!! This says exactly what I feel, and what better way to show an example of being Christ-like, by reading this many times a day, maybe the kids (teens) would grasp it, and want to root these words deep inside themselves.
We have an open floor plan that we all hang in, the kitchen, dining room and living area is all one big hang out. I would put it on the wall when you first walk in the house you would see it. Guess you might call it the kitchen since it is the side wall next to the oven.
I would hang this in my kitchen. Matches my decor in there, and a place we are always hanging out.
I love this poster so much!! 🙂 I would hang it in our kitchen. I would hang it so we could see it while we gather in the kitchen. It would also hang by the garage door, so it’s the first thing we see as we come and go as a constant reminder.
This would hang in our family room since it’s one of the places we spend all together. A beautiful testimony for all of us! Love it!
I would hang it either in the kitchen or above my computer – two places I am most often found at home because I need the reminder as much (or more than) the rest of my family! It would go along nicely with my “The Lord is with you wherever you go” plaque that I take when we go overseas for one of my husband’s assignments (2 so far and coming home from the latest – in Italy- in 16 more days!!)
I’d hang it either by the front door or by the kitchen.
Thanks for the chance!
I would hang this in our family room/kitchen area. It is awesome. I used to have our own “family rules” typed and under our glass kitchen table top and I always loved the conversations when the kids friends would sit and read them.
The perfect place is on the refrigerator door. Everyone in my family goes to there numerous times each day! Love you, Lysa!
I would hang it in our living room, where we all would see it! It would match another sign I just made, which says “don’t count the days, make the days count”.
I would hang it in the kitchen!!!
This would go fabulously in my living room on a small wall that needs something to be hung on it 🙂
I love this! I’d hang it in my dining room where it would be seen from every long space in the house!
I would hang it in the kitchen. It’s the place most visited by all.
This would be hanging in my kitchen for sure! I have the perfect spot for it. A friend of mine has one and I just love it. I want to put it in a place where my whole family would see it every day and be reminded of the love our family has for each other and for God. Thanks Lysa!
I absolutely adore this Family Rules poster. We have one now, but it doesn’t say ANYTHING about loving Jesus on it. If I were to win this, I would hang this one in place of the one we currently have on a small wall dividing the open kitchen and dining room (which can be see as one enters the front door). Our family is always in this area of the home, due to the fact that my boys LOVE to eat, color, play, etc. at the bar beside this wall.
Oh the RELIEF it would bring to me to stop the UNGLUED CRAZY and point, silently to a sign of happy rules that BEGIN with LOVE JESUS!!!! As a 31 year old expecting our 5th “priority blessing”, I can tell you, Lysa, that your books, and what God is speaking to me through them, are changing our lives. I think I’m in the middle of my 5th or 6th TerKeurst book… ADD doesn’t help… and not a morning goes by I don’t cry with revelation or relief. Thank you for encouraging other women and mamas, and being the broken pot God has used in a mighty way. Friend, you are a BLESSING.
I would hang it in our family room…It’s where we spend the most time together as a family and also reinforces what being a family is all about!
I would hang it in my kitchen. We spend lots of hours there and EVERYONE would see it – including my unsaved family and friends. It would be another reminder to be Christlike.
I would post it in my kitchen. I have one but it is missing the most important command.
LOVE JESUS!! I need to update!! 🙂 Thanks
I have just the spot in our family room!
Oops. I told you. ADD. Where would I hang it? In the kitchen where we spend our days!!!!!!
I would hang this in our living room, the main area of our home so that we would always see it 🙂
I would hang this picture by my front door. As a reminder when we are coming and going. 🙂
I would hang this in my livingroom! So i would read it everyday! I would live to get this pic to share with Family & Friends when they visit❤
I would love to have this in my boys’ playroom! We spend a lot of time in there so it would be a great place for reminders for all of us 🙂
Hi! Wow there are a lot of entries!! I love getting your daily inspiration on fb. I really appreciate your encouragement. I would love this poster hung in our kitchen. It’s right where we can see it from the living room and coming in from the hallway as well. It has a great POP and it’s something we truly need in our home, especially lately! My heart needs a refresh sometimes from the attitudes that explode and I think that would definitely do the trick! Thanking God for using you to bring the words to us even if we don’t win it. If we don’t win it I may need to pick it up somewhere. 🙂
Thanks for the opportunity!
In a family with 5 growing kiddos, I’d love to have this hanging in a prominent place to remind us all what we should be doing! : )
I would hang it in our kitchen. That is where we spend time together after the hubby gets home and we can share our day.
As a mama of 2 little ones, we could definitely benefit from the poster. I would put it in my kitchen. 🙂
I would put this poster on my corner fireplace mantel in my den. We would all see it daily and it would look great. Thanks for showing the poster, Vicki
We would love to hang this cool poster in our dining room/kitchen….since that is where we are all often together at once, talking about our day over a meal (not every day necessarily, but we do try to make it a priority goal in our family!). This is the perfect place to talk about the things listed & how our family can work together to make it happen! 😉
I would love to hang one of these posters in my grandchildren’s playroom at our house!
I would give his to my 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 10 years to 23 months and another on the way due to arrive in January. I would hang it in their playroom where they are all required to play together each day. Their parents are teaching these exact fundamentals which are bibically founded and make Jesus smile when they treat others in this way. My daughter in law home schools and this could serve as part of starting each day with their prayer. Love it.
We just moved into a new home after being in the same home for 30 years. Our 3 children are grown. We are raising my 16 year old niece and 9 year old nephew. The joys and blessings far outweigh the struggles and challenges that brought about their inclusion into our immediate family. We would hang the “Family Rules” poster inside our entryway to our home…where it would be seen by everyone who entered as well as from our well used living room!
Would definitely hang this in the kitchen!
What a great poster!! I would hang this in our living room, under the Psalm 118:24 verse on our wall – they would incorporate beautifully together!
I would hang this poster in my kitchen, where everyone would see it. We all need the reminders, including, and sometimes especially, me!
I’d hang it in my Pretty Purple Room, of course!
Right in the kitchen where we spend the most time together as a family
LOVE this poster, and it would fit perfectly in the front hallway where we come and go, and also where the staircase comes down from our upstairs bedrooms. Perfectly in eye view for for all of us to see as we come down to start a new day that our Heavenly Father gives us.
I would frame it with old barn wood from a ND farm I found and hang it on my Family Room which is yellow and purple with black framed family pictures all around me as I do my Bible study there. I great place to spent with God and Family, everything I person need.
Depends how big the poster is, but there’s a nice big space in our kitchen/dining area that could really use this, and I could sure use the reminder every day!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! I would hang this in our family room right next to my family picture collage! My youngest is just learning to read and this would be a great list of rules to learn to read as well as memorize! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I would hang it in our family room in the center of our family pictures. When spend most of our time in there so it would be looked at often. Memorized too! Love your decorating ideas today.
This would be perfect in my family room.
This would hang in the entry way of our home along with the Fruits of the Spirit wall plaque.
I’d hang it over my mantle! I have the perfect spot for it!
I would hang this in our homeschooling room aka the kitchen. I would love picking out lines to talk over and pray about over meals. Finding scriptures to go with the lines would add to bible time. Bless you!
Id hang it in our family room. As a reminder that once we have a family (waiting in adoption) the rules are already in practice!
I would hang it in my kitchen since that’s where we usually start our day. I think it would be a good way to remind my kids about what the rules of life are and to always remember to be thankful for His Swee Blessings!!
I would place this in our living room. Such an encouraging piece!
I love it! I would hang it in my entryway with our family pictures.
I would hang it above the little table next to my comfy reading chair in our family room. 🙂 It would be such an encouragement to who ever would sit there.
