Do you have a message stirring inside of you to speak, write, or reach people through your social media platforms? If the Lord spoke it to your heart, my team and I want to help you find your way forward at She Speaks 2024 happening in person and online July 19-20, 2024.

If your name is Joel, don’t read this…

June 19, 2013

Happy Wednesday my bloggy friends!

I thought I’d take a break from writing my book. But we’ll keep that a little secret between you and I since my deadline is quickly approaching.

Or it might have actually passed. And I am holding my breath that my editor, Joel, is going to call any day now. Or show up on my doorstep. And with all the love in the world (because he is incredibly smart and kind) demand this manuscript right now. Yikes. Gulp. Prayers please?!

I’m at 47,000 words.

And I need to be at 55,000 words. Or maybe it’s 60,000? Have mercy on my soul.

I was awfully close to finishing last week. But then I cut lots of words after writing this post. Because the person that needed to read that the very most was me.

So. If your name is Joel might I offer you some cookies today and a manuscript next week?

Back to my blog friends. Might I mention today that your hair looks lovely? I know that to be true because mine is currently in such a state of total discombobulation that in comparison, anything would be a step up. I cannot lie. Mine is a situation right now.

But let’s not talk hair.

The real reason I’m writing is to tell you about some fun things going on in the ministry world.

First, Proverbs 31 has… drumroll, please… a brand new logo!

We’re moving into a whole new website design and adding departments to the ministry. Stay tuned for more details on what’s to come!

And here’s another exciting announcement… Women of Faith is taking over my blog on Tuesday, June 25 at 9PM (EST) for a free, encouraging webcast on living a life of significance.

Do you ever have those days where you just feel drained and insecure?

Me too.

That’s why I can’t wait to be with my friends Sheila Walsh, Lisa Harper, Holly Wagner, and special guest Roma Downey to talk about what to do on those days.

Sign up below for a reminder e-mail, and I’ll see you right back here next week!

  1. Donna

Love the color & style of the new logo!!

  2. Silvia

LOVE the new logo! Nice job!

  3. Tammy Howard

The new logo is very pretty and tastefully done. As for the hair, anything goes these days, whether you have bed head or your hair looks like it was done with an egg beater. I bet you are still beautiful, Ms. Lysa! Love you!

  4. Missy

That new logo is just right! I’m so looking forward to the Women of Faith webcast on Tuesday. But mostly because, no on has to see MY hair! Summer does not love my hair. Although, I’ve been hearing an awful lot of love being thrown around for the blessed bobby pin lately. I just need to find and industrial strength version.

May the next 8 or 13 thousand words fly from your fingertips to the keyboard. Yes Lord!

  5. Heather

I ask for prayer for patience, I’m waiting on something to come back so I can start a new job, and I’m nervous that it will come back and I won’t get the job.

  6. Terri

Like the new logo and looking forward to the webcast.

Try WEN for your hair. Little pricey at first but eliminates a lot of other products. I love it – been using it for over a year. Tamed my frizzy head. You know it is good when your husband compliments you the first day you use it! QVC usually has some really good deals on it too. 🙂

Good luck with the book! Praying for you!

BEAUTIFUL LOGO!! How about putting that logo on t-shirts and selling them?

Just a idea I would love to have one in white with that LOGO or Black ..

  8. Tracy

Oh, the hair. I so understand. There was so much humidity here yesterday. When I left the house it looked lovely then bam I looked like a frizzy poodle. Always appreciate that you are real and so very honest. It’s a beautiful thing! Love the new logo!

  9. Terri Kistler

    Hi Lisa,
I enjoy your devotionals. I just finished your study “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God” all I can say is I loved it! I have a steno pad filled with notes, thoughts and verses with the Bible commentaries. I do this so that I can leave something for my children & grandchildren to hopefully help them along life’s path. I am half way through your study “What Happens when Women Walk in Faith” “loving” it also, again taking notes and such on the 2nd steno pad for this one. God Bless you and all the work you do.

  10. Vickie

Well today my hair cannot possibly look better than yours, and all I can say is thank goodness when I opened your blog post it was not a repeat of your mom answering her Ipad call (hehe). I do have a praise, I have been praying for almost six years now for God to open a door in my ministry to allow the orphans I serve to have a group home to transition to once they “age out”. Not only has God begun to move, but the home will be run by the local christian church (this is a communist country btw). So these children will know the love of a family AND the love of God at the same time. Praising God for His answered prayers and for anwering them beyond all that I asked or could have imagined. (Eph 3:20-21). Love the new logo and as for hair tips, one can only assume this is collateral damage from the hot, humid NC summer air :o) Have a great day Lysa and I know you will get your book finished in time!

  11. Mitzi

I, too, love the new logo! My comment is this… if you find a solution to the hair issue, would you blog about that, please?! I think mine is just tired and worn out. Like me! Ha! Best wishes on meeting your deadline. Somehow I know you’ll be just fine.

    • Lysa TerKeurst

Will do Mitzi… Several people have suggested a product that you have to order from QVC. I might try it. If it’s good, I’ll for sure give it a shout out on the blog!

  12. Juli

I have a job interview next Tuesday for a job I applied for last year. I’m getting a second chance when I’m starting to enjoy my current job. But following Gods lead here. Can’t wait to see if its offered!

  13. Lauren Jolly

The new logo is fabulous just as Proverbs 31 Ministries is 🙂 My continual praise is for your ministry and the inspiration and hope it provides to me daily. Thanks for all you do.

I also have two big PRAISES today. Today is my 3 year anniversary with my husband Brock. He’s my best friend, favorite person and gift from GOD each day. I’m so thrilled I get to go through life with him by my side. Secondly, we’re expecting our first child in November! I’m just about at the halfway point at 18 weeks and feeling wonderful. The little blessing is a perfect baby thus far and I’m so blessed to be their mommy!

  14. Hannah

Love the new logo. Thanks for the compliment on my hair…who knew that the sponge roller look was in because that’s what’s happening on top of my head at the moment (thanks to a Pinterest experiment). 😉 I’m already feeling like it’s gone awry but I’m sticking with it to the end. Anywho…excited about the webcast! I put my email in your little box thingy to get a reminder. And for a praise report…I’m deadlining right now for my first manuscript due at the end of July. The goal is 50,000 words and I’m at 35,000. I’m feeling good!

I’ve been a closet blog reader of yours for a while now, btw. But I thought I’d comment because comments, well, they’re nice. 🙂

  15. Lorraine Furtner

Hang in there! Lots of us are rooting for you and sending up prayers right this minute. …And remember if you pull all of your hair out, it might not look as good, but it will be easier to style! 🙂 Seriously, I know what you mean. I used to work for a small newspaper and there were days my deadline was counting down and it seemed like I was doing ANYTHING but put words on the page. I used to set my timer for 5 minutes and play Sudoku. Okay, sometimes 10. But, It gave my conscious mind something else do so my subconscious mind could work the kinks out of my story. Maybe you need a mental distraction for 5 minutes. 🙂

  16. Brenda

Love the new logo. I’m sure your hair is just fine. Besides washing mine this morning all I did was let it air dry. I was hoping for a hair cut but couldn’t get an appointment until tomorrow. If that is the worst thing that happens, it is a pretty good day. I praise God for allowing me shelter and quick exit from an abusive marriage. I do request your prayers for my husband. His turning to God and accepting Christ as savior is his only hope.

    • Lysa TerKeurst

Oh Brenda… I am praying for your husband right now.

  17. pam

Change is good…we feel refreshed even if nothing was wrong with the old way. Now about this deadline thing. GLORY…can’t even imagine. Interesting the requirement for a certain amount of words. As I know NOTHING about that world it makes me wonder about all the books that I sometimes feel just went too far in repeating or stuff not so stirring. Aren’t we better sometimes with fewer words that hit the mark? Perhaps they expect to take all those words and whittle it down to the gutsy stuff. I’m in awe of God speaking through His peeps. Praying Joel will go for the cookies as he waits. 😉

  18. Lynn

I love the new logo! I can’t wait to see the new website too! I have finished 4000 words of my first book….and so excited that I actually wrote 4000 consecutive words! I wonder how I will feel when I get to that 50,000 word goal???

Praise item – believe it or not, my article was accepted into your P31 Woman magazine for July and well I am so super excited to see my words in print! Can I toot my own horn about that????

Thank you Lysa for all the incredible work you and your ministry do!!!

    Hugs hugs hugs

  19. Terri

i like using the word discombobulated, but have never seen it in Print!! Thanks Lysa!! I sometimes even wondered if it were a real word!! My hair has seen better days!! Maybe tomorrow will be one of those days!! 🙂 Looking forward to the webcast.

  20. Chris Carter

I would put MONEY on my hair looking worse! Seriously. 😉
I keep thinking about your post – as it continues to resonate so deeply in me. Thank you thank you thank you…
Women’s group ROCKED your book last night! God is using you in such a mighty way…

    • Lysa TerKeurst

Thanks Chris. I love that you used the word rocked to describe your women’s group and my book. That just made my day.

  21. Mandy

We are getting our new AC unit installed in our house this Friday! Praise Jesus! With a four month old baby, it will be nice to be able to live in our own house again after staying with the in-laws (God bless them) for a few days. Also, my co-worker and I are moving into a new office space after finding our brand new building flooded out on Monday. Very gracious people on campus have allowed us to use their extra rooms for offices 🙂 God is good when catastrophe strikes.

  22. charlotte

Love the logo and the color, first. Secondly, it is humid here in Alabama so my hair is up in a pony tail at the moment so it will stop bothering me. 🙂
And lastly I love how you and Ann Voskamp have crossed paths. I love when my fav authors come together. what inspiration I get from you sweet ladies.
And on a final note, man have I seen God moving since I read your Unglue book (and gave myself a break) and began my joy dare journal after reading Ann’s book and God is just everywhere. He is in every nook and cranny. He was with me as my grandfather left this earth and passed into Him. I was beyond blessed to see at 41 the depth of living and dying well all come full circle. How my heart misses my grands but oh how my heart rejoices to have seen such glory, purpose and peace in my grandfather and his final days. God was glorified and was grown and we all saw Jesus sitting on the bed beside him talking him through the final process of life. May we all be so blessed in our lifetime.

    • Lysa TerKeurst

I love how you are experiencing God Charlotte. And I do love Ann!

  23. Jennifer

Oh dear Lysa, I’m so glad that you are a real person with real hair…bless you!

big news for me is that my son is going to graduate school in NC! UNCSA in Winston-Salem. My dream is 1) that he will find Jesus again in NC, and 2) that I might meet you when I come to visit. Amen!

  24. Sharon

Love the new logo and CAN’T WAIT for the livecast!!!
Can I ask for prayers? I’m currently seeking a teaching position (1st or 2nd grade) at my kids school-please pray The Lord can place His Merciful Hand upon me and grant me this request for His Glory. It really takes Him to bless me with this!!! I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 14 years and trying to get back into th teaching field-only God’s Mercy can do it!

    • Shari

    • Lysa TerKeurst

I’m praying right now too Sharon!

  25. carri

I love the new logo! New news. . . I am going to be working from home full-time! I am so excited. Right now I also work a part-time job, which is wonderful but keeps me from my passion of quilting. BTW, I love all of the encouragement you provide, it is wonderful. Love the book Unglued!

  26. Gina

I gotta say I went through your Unglued devotional at my church and it was a life changer. Still living by the words I am making imperfect progress. You are very real, never change that about you. Love hearing from a woman that has normal everyday issues and is okay sharing them so that we can all learn together. Prayers going your way so you can finish your book.

  27. Robin Dance

Ahhhh, Lysa…looks great. Clean, concise–perfect. A new logo that fits well is like finding that new perfect dress, isn’t it?

And maybe a break from the book is what you NEED, right? A little space to breathe life and divine words into your fingers?

  28. Beth

I have a praise report! I have been having thyroid issues, boo! I have had blood work done that showed I have hypothyroidism. An ultrasound was done too to check for “spots”. Nothing was found, praise The Lord! I was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease yesterday and that’s fine with me as its super easy to manage. Best diagnosis I could ask for when it comes to thyroids! The Lord has used this to draw me closer, and I have been feeling super grateful! Yay!

    • Shari

Your news is so encouraging! I’m really glad you shared.

  29. Daytra Haley

I have a praise report!!! During the past couple of months, I have really struggled with some issues in life that DID leave me feeling insecure of my purpose or “significance” in life. Some of those issues, I have been able to share with others, some I have not been able to share. However, the past week or so… I’ve been communicating with God more about those things. I am here to proclaim and tell everyone that it is through the storms of life that we find our purpose. God never wastes a hurt. I am just grateful to serve A MIGHTY and EVERLASTING GOD!!! When we give up, I’m so glad that He does not! When we stumble, I’m so glad He is there to pick us up… to dust us off and to remind up why were are here!!! I am SO thrilled about the livecast next week!!! I expect great things to come from it!!! Praise God that it has been during the past couple of weeks (one of my toughest moments in life) that HE has revealed Himself and given me the outline to the book I have started writing on the topic of purpose (significance). Grateful to have stumbled over Lysa’s FB page, through a link shared by a dear friend. I have been a FB fan of P31 Ministries for a while! I do not believe in coincidence.

  30. Marlene D

This really doesn’t have anything to do with today’s topic, but I’m just wondering if you have any suggestions on good, inspirational, books for 17 year old girls heading into their final year of high school in the fall. Something that will help them know they aren’t the only ones feeling insecure and scared about the future as they leave the comfort of home in a year. Do you know of anything? I’d love to hear any suggestions for my daughter. Thanks much!!

  31. Phyllis Nichols Gutierrez

Hair is a mess because I had a little too much cut 2 weeks ago and it just will not do anything right now.

Praise for P31 and all that the ministry is doing in the lives of so many women. Love the new logo, too
Prayers for family member who is struggling.

Thank you for all that you do. Prayers for successful completion of your next book. I know it will speak to so many women. Have a blessed day.

  32. Colleen Gudge

    Hi Lysa,
I’m excited to hear more from the Women of Faith. I will be volunteering at the event in October in Portland, Oregon. I’m especially looking forward to the event as I will finally get to hear you in person! Praise God for answered prayers! I also volunteered to help with your book signing but you are in such demand, it didn’t happen. Nonetheless, I am very honored I will be able to help in any way God chooses for me! Praying for you.

  33. Mary Jo Oliver

    I have a Praise! ! !
Less then 6 weeks ago my brother in law went from normal life of a 60 yr old retired now full time hunter, fisherman, grandpa, father and husband to fighting for his life after getting a tick with limes diease, causing staff infection and turning into spinal meningitis. He was on life support for 10 days and able to return home two days ago. He still needs a walker to move around and is getting the Stent removed tomorrow. He is alive thanks to five churches from different states putting him on their prayer lists. GOD is great, and we are so great full for his love. He can and does still work miracles.

    • Shari

Love hearing praises!! So glad your brother in law is improving!

  34. Dawn

Try WEN, great product and your hair will love you for it. I can’t wait for the new book to come out!

I started a women’s prayer group to ask for God’s direction of our church.

  35. Mandy

    A. I have so needed every word you’ve posted this week! B. I can’t WAIT to do the Bible Study “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God” C. I LOVED Unglued D. Please do some more devotionals for YouVersion and E. I also have a “hair washing cycle”..just finished drying (30 min to blow dry and flat iron) my hair and on the bottom section (you know cuz I have to section off about 8 sections) I apparently didn’t get the shampoo/conditioner washed out and so I have a greasy bottom section. Fail.

  36. Heather

I was totally catching that glimpse of myself in the screen thinking, “Yes, it IS a good hair day!” 🙂 Not really, but you made me smile! Question is, what day of your hair are you on? 😉
Love, love, love the new logo!!!
Praying for your new book and for you as you allow His words to flow through you!
Insecure…gulp! Yep! Thankful for the wise counsel of the P31 women, and for God’s unending mercy when I am in that zone! Big hugs, Lysa!

    • Shari

Heather, I was thinking the exact same thing about which day Lysa’s hair is on!

  37. Samille Jackson

I have exciting news! Just received my acceptance letter for online Bible College and will begin courses in the fall. Over the last 18 months, with God’s help and some assistance from Made to Crave, I have lost over 100 pounds, led the MTC Bible Study in our church and all of that has led to the beginning of many ministry opportunities in my life. I am so thrilled to see what God has in store. Thank you for all the inspiration. I especially loved What Happens When Women Say Yes to God!

  38. Shari

Love, love, love the new logo! Really excited about your growth and blessings! My hair is not so wonderful today either so I can totally relate!! 🙂

  39. Barb

My hair has to be worse than yours. I have been organizing our churches 100th Anniversary, we have a catered supper and entertainment to follow on saturday evening. Sunday will be church of course, to dedicate our new church doors and then we are hosting a bbq in one of our great parks in Warman, SK where we will have The Faith Alive Band from Saskatoon, SK performing from 2 – 4 PM. We have a committee baking and decorating cupcakes too. Lots going on we are so thankful and we praise God for providing this great fellowship opportunity to happen in our life time. WOW 100 Years, how many churches have celebrated 100 years of worship. I love your new logo, and have done two online book studies and will do the new on staring in July, What Happens When Women say Yes to God, sounds interesting. May God Bless you and help you finish your next great book.

  40. Amy

Some exciting news I have to share right now is that my job status currently is a stay-at-home mom at least for the summer until school starts back up. I’ve been enjoying my time at home with my 2 1/2 year old daughter! Hope you are enjoying summer too!

  41. Elizabeth K

Pretty sure my hair’s almost always a situation, dear. You are not alone!

Big news on the homefront here…my hubby and I are feeling a call into domestic missions, specifically bringing hope and Christ to disaster areas. It’s a brand-new-baby-dream, but it’s growing in our hearts and minds at a rapid-fire pace! Pray for us as we go forward! (Pray for our kids, too…we’re talking about going for the “5 people and a dog living in a travel trailer” approach…)

  42. Beckey

Praise that my son did well in all his classes this year! Praise that my tomato plants and herbs are growing like crazy! Praise that the man of the house is having a great softball season. Praise that God is showing me so much and leading me in amazing ways! And Praise for Proverbs31’s new logo!

Oh, and praise for elastic hairbands – which are my only unruly hair suggestion. Once the humidity hits mine (like today) *POOOF!!!* The only hope is a braid, ponytail, or bun – which I will insist was meant to look messy like that!

  43. Cathleen T

I take it you are on day 3 of your hair :). Love the new logo. I pray the Holy Spirit will guide you and help you finish writing. Thank you for all your encouragement your blog and proverbs 31 offers to so many women. Lots of love.

  44. Leslee

I have a potential job in ministry that I feel God leading me into. Please pray if this is God’s will, then the doors will be flung wide open. He is also showing me through my quiet time that He has a plan of hope for me and a fresh start from game I have felt over past mistakes. God can and will use all of us no matter what is in our past!

  45. Jennifer Wood

We have big news! We are planning to begin a community Bible study in our home on Sunday, June 30th. Please pray that many will come to faith in Christ through the study of God’s Word and the love they experience here from those who already know our sweet Jesus. This is our deep heart’s desire….and that we will truly make disciples as we are called to do! BTW–great style and color of the logo. I’d love to wear the t-shirt! Praying now for your book deadline. : )

  46. Jessica

Praise: I have been praying off and on for a friend at work for at least say….5 years or so. WELL- the other day she came up to me and said,”Your a believer, right?”
    I almost choked…”Ummm yes I am.”
She sighed and said,” Oh- could you pray for me- I am just having a rough time and I think I need prayers.”
Oh my word- yes! I will pray! Would you all pray too?? God is at work! 🙂

  47. Nauri Abreu

So glad I made a stop to read this, I just love it. I’m taking time to pray more this month, and God is helping me by sending people that ask me to pray for them…love His ways! And praying also for my career and some decisions I have to make.
On the hair subject…mine is also a mess this week…I blame it on a really humid weather in a tropical island.
    God bless you Lysa!

  48. Kitty

Scrunchies! I keep a few around for those times when I can’t do anything with my hair and don’t want to fool with it.

  49. deb

About hair….Just washed mine, but no time to dry it before I have to leave for P.T.! Thank heaven for car a/c!!!! It should be partially dry when I get to my destination!
HOWEVER, it will LOOK like it was dried with the car a/c….. Oh, well, I’ll just tell them I was exercising before I left home….a parial lie, which they won’t believe anyway….*sigh*

  50. Carol

Thankful to be heading to the She Speaks conference in July.
As for the hair – I’m having issues too!

  51. Esther

Why thank you, I thought my hair looked pretty good today too 🙂

  52. Robin

Hi, Lysa! Thank you so much for all of your encouragement, always pointing me back to Christ. My family is about to go through a big move. We are relocating from Illinois to North or South Carolina! We are not sure which one we will live in yet. My husband’s office is close to the border of North and South Carolina. We have been through lots of hard things in the last several years. I do not even want to think about where I would be without having a relationship with Jesus through it all. There have been so many times that I have felt like giving up and then I would read a blog post from either you or Ann Voskamp with such life-giving Truth, helping me to just keep going, keeping my eyes on my only Hope, Jesus. I feel like God is doing something new in my life. He has been working in me so deeply the past several years. I am excited to see what He has in store for me and my family in the Carolinas. I hope to be able to meet you one day, sweet friend. Thank you for being wonderful you! 🙂

  53. Karen Stevens

    Dearest Lisa,
Thanks for being so vulnerable with us. Your ability to write openly makes us realize we’re not the only ones with a “bad hair day”. You are the friend I want to go get a mani and pedi with! I will pray right now for God to give you the words to meet your deadline (or maybe that Joel will have a flat tire on the way to your house-ha!)
    Your friend,

  54. Laurel Gunter

I’ve been trying so hard to get in touch with you…… I just need you to know God keeps laying it on my heart to keep pursuing you… You are my mentor and I truly believe that God made you an author to speak directly to me. I have always struggled with my weight always been at the forefront of my daily life. When I had my daughter a year and a half ago my weight sky rocketed…. I had to do something it was controlling my whole life. In January of this year I started the Run for God program and your book Made to Crave and since then I have lost 27 pounds depending on God. This is the only thing that has ever worked for me. I’ve lost 62 pounds all together since the birth of my daughter. You are such and inspiration to me that I always credit it to God and you. Since then 8 other women has bought your book through my inspiration and started reading it. I have read it 3 times since then I just feel more accountable when I read it. I teach kindergarten and being out for summer I have already read What happens when women say yes to God and I am currently reading What happens when women walk in faith. You have changed my life so much! Thank you for all you do! God has a plan I will meet you and talk to you one day!!

    In Christ Love,
    Laurel Gunter

  55. Ashley

    Hi Lysa,

Strange request. This morning, June 21st between 5:05-5:20 AM K-Love radio played a promo with you speaking about “waiting” in our lives. This is what was playing when my alarm went off. I felt like your words were answers to my prayers. Could you email me the wave file so I can listen to it again and write your words down? If you don’t have access to the taped file, can you email me the words you said? Thanks.

  56. Summer Nicole

Lysa, thank you so much for your authenticity! I love reading your “real life” situations and so often think, “You and me both sister!” (In this case, specifically about the if-my-husband-comes-in-with-my-hair-like-this-he-will-probably-run-screaming kind of day). Thanks for a breath of fresh air!

  57. Pam Glass

There are so many things about your book Unglued that I want to thank you for, but, by far, the most important thing to me is the way you are so REAL! Thank you. Thank you. That is such a tremendous help to all of us ladies who are struggling. And that includes all of us! It’s hard to be broken and honest, but you do it beautifully! Thank you.

  58. lisa halloran

I’m not even sure what I want to say. Lysa, I hope you personally read this. Last Saturday, one week ago today, I attempted to take my life. I overdosed on Valium. I was unconscious when my husband found me. I just got to come home from the hospital Thursday. Two days prior to my suicide attempt, a friend of mine had given me your book, “Unglued”. She knew I was struggling. I hadn’t gotten to read any of it yet. However, when my husband came home and packed my bags for the hospital, he packed your book and my Bible. Being in the hospital after a suicide attempt is a lot like jail. I had limited access to everything. There was an alarm on my bed if I got up in the middle of the night, I couldn’t have shoe laces in my shoes, you name it. I found some time to take your book and began to read it. The hospital would not allow me an ink pen or a highlighter, just a small pencil like you get when you go play putt-putt. I’ve underlined so much that I feel like the whole book is underlined! Your book has so touched my life! I’m such a mom that compares myself to every other mom. Every other mom who doesn’t seem to have financial difficulties, their kids are always dressed perfectly, they stay on their budget, their menu is made 2 weeks in advance, they go to the gym and still have time to work overtime at work! You were so brutally honest in your book that you were normal. You speak at events and lead others to Christ, yet you yell at your kids too. I so cried sitting on that bed in that hospital room by myself. I feel so guilty for everything! To top it off, I used to teach Bible studies at my church too. Now I’ve got multiple cuts up my arms, tears in my eyes, and trying to figure out how to end it all without my kids finding me. I’m so overwhelmed with life.
My favorite part of your book was about us being God’s masterpiece and allowing Him to chisel away at us. I’m not sure I’m worth it to Him anymore but I hope that’s what He is doing. I met a 19 year old girl in the hospital going through detox. Before I was discharged I wrote her a letter and told her about being part of God’s workmanship and His chiseling away at her and how her drug use didn’t define who she was. I used your words to try and help her. If only I can believe them for myself. I’m scared I’m not going to make it. I’m scared of what the future holds for me. I feel guilty for what I’ve done and the money this will now cost us. At times I feel like I couldn’t even commit suicide and do it right!
I just wanted you to know your book helped me through this past week. Thank you.
Will you talk to Jesus for me? Remind Him of me.

Your comment is an amazing testimony of God’s grace and you are a miracle! It never ceases to amaze me, God is ALWAYS there, but so is the enemy….. I will also pray for you and your struggle. I am glad you “couldn’t even commit suicide and do it right” GOD has a plan and a purpose for your life. He is working even when it feels like He is not there, HE IS THERE, HE WAS THERE, and HE WILL ALWAYS BE THERE! Lamentations 22-24 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning! Great is Your Faithfulness Oh Lord! I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him,” The bible also tells us we are written on his hands.
      Thank you for your honesty.
      Praying for you sister Dana!

        Thank you, Leisia!
My heart still aches. I love your outlook and your hope. I’m having good days and bad. Do you really think I’m a miracle??Sometimes I think God is here and other times, so far away.
My heart hurts so bad sometimes!

Your letter to Lysa broke my heart but I can relate. I’m 38 yrs old & have had rheumatoid arthritis for twenty yrs. Sometimes the pain is sooo overwhelming I just want it to all go away.
But I know that I know that I am the apple of my Heavenly Father’s eye. And you are too!!!!!!! Believe me, you are still and will always be worth it to Him!!!! I will be praying for you & your family Dana because you are a miracle. God isn’t finished with you yet. He’s still got things for you to do. So get busy girl & let me tell ya, I’m preachin’ to the choir here! Ha!!
Let’s do what we know we have to do & get busy for His kingdom!!!!

      Your sister in Christ,

Hi Lysa! I’ve always been so encouraged whenever i read your blog posts or devos, particularly the ones on marriage. Thank you for sharing your heart and godly wisdom!
My best advice for hair is something i’ve just recently discovered…..invest in a good dryer! I seriously didn’t think that would make much difference but WOW…i spent $60 on a professional dryer and it was totally worth it! Just a thought 🙂

Praise…our church had VBS last week and we had 9 children invite Jesus into their heart as their Savior and 4 children who already asked Jesus to be their Savior but came for baptism. What an exciting week we had!

Wow – exciting news or comment. Which one to pick? Perhaps I can combine the two. This is my first comment on a blog post! Proverbs 31 ministries & Lysa have been an encouragement to my heart. I look forward to seeing that daily devotion in my inbox. I’m thankful that Jesus Christ has done such a wonderful work in Lysa’s life and in the lives of the other P31 staff. Love the new P31 logo! Have a beautiful day.
