Inside Chatter Webcast Replay Available

January 30, 2013

Sheila and I had so much fun last night sharing stories and answering questions about negative inside chatter. If you missed it or just want to watch it again, we have great news… The video is below!

Grab a friend, a cup of coffee and possibly a notebook to write down nuggets of truth to help you combat negative inside chatter. Don’t wait too long though — the replay will only be available through this weekend!

Several of you have asked about some suggested “anchor verses” based on my teaching last night.  My new Unglued Devotional book has 60 of these Bible verses — one for each day with a devotion to help you fight the negative inside chatter that often accompanies unglued times.

To Celebrate Women of Faith’s first-ever LIVE webcast teaching event Women of Faith would like to offer you the opportunity to attend any of our 2013 events and provide you with a $10 discount on any full price ticket (with a limit of 9 tickets) with the code: WEBCASTThe offer ends on Sunday, February 3 at 11:59 p.m. CST! I just watched and listened to the webcast on inside chatter. I am 73 years old. I wish information like this had been available when I was younger. Praise God, you are reaching many women of all ages, one of them is my daughter, Laura Heppe. Women need to feel the trust of those close Christian friends. THANK YOU, LYSA AND SHELIA.

    Lysa,

I want to thank you, Sheila and Tonia for the words that you shared. I didn’t realize all the negative inside chatter that overtakes me daily. This video really blessed me and has me thinking more on focusing on who I am in Christ rather than comparing myself to others or wondering what they all think of me. I can so relate to the stories and testimonies shared. Wow, God is awesome!

Thank you for reposting this and for doing it in the first place it has really blessed me I have listened to it twice! I don’t have a single girlfriend because of inside chatter and also because women really are gossipy and caddy. I have had so many bad experiences with friends that I pushed myself away from everyone and just keep people at arms length. And because of this webcast just realized that its also do to all the inside chatter! I thought it was just me who after having lunch or meeting with people that I replayed the who thing in my head wondering if they thought this or that or if I said the wrong thing now they won’t like me etc.. I thought there was something wrong with me that I thought this way! So thank you Lysa and Sheila for your teachings. I will be praying now for God to bless me with some friends who I can trust competley!

        Hi,
I feel the same way. We have a group of women (older-single-women) who sit in the very back rows at church. They gossip and meet on Sat. ams for coffee and to discuss the latest “news”. I do not sit with them even though I am single and do not do any social things with them. I pray for them. My Lord expects more of me and I expect more of me. Sometimes we must detach ourselves from others. It is great as God has given me new friends and I love them in Christ.

You mentioned about having a few close friends…which I have found to be difficult…especially in church circles. Sometimes in my brokenness I’ve felt the need to hang back from others…or have tried to get close but situations happen (someone’s religious spirit) wounded me. I am an introvert so like small groups but not big groups but find it difficult to feel loved by others so even if I hang out with someone, I don’t really think that they like me that well…or wonder why they never call me for something other than them wanting something from me.

I need safe friends…and to know that someone would accept/like me for who I am and not what I do.

C.J. and Anne, you’re not alone. I don’t have any close friends either. I don’t let most people get close enough to really know me; that way they aren’t close enough to hurt me. But it’s a very lonely bubble, and that hurts too. I will pray for God to help us find safe friends. I want to be able to trust people, but I have to put my trust in Jesus first. Even the best people will disappoint us sometimes. But if I let Jesus hold my fragile heart, maybe I don’t have to be so afraid of breaking it.

C.J. Your comment struck a cord with me. I am an introvert too and find it hard to make close friends. I have some friends but no one I feel “close” to and feel comfortable sharing my “inside stuff”. I was actually jealous a little bit when Lysa talked about getting together with girlfriends for lunch or calling up a gf. I don’t have that and it is something I yearn for.

Anyway..just wanted to reply to your comment because it was so close to my same situation and story. Made me feel not quite so alone.

Lysa, thank you so very much for doing this webcast!!! It’s unbelievable just how much negative inside chatter can control ones life!! The enemy LOVES to whisper lies that reach the very depths of our souls… and if we aren’t remembering who we are in Christ, it can over take our life. And the really sad thing about it all? When we are SO focused on listening to those lies there is no joy and no hope. Not only does Satan lie to us to create a division between me and my Lord, but he steals my joy as well!!

So, first of all, remembering who I am in Christ is key for me!! And the way to do that is to make sure I am staying connected to the Truth…. God’s Truth!! And by staying connected to THE Truth, I can have peace, joy, and hope!! I LOVE it!!!

Thank you, again, for sharing this wonderful webcast with all of us!

The negative inside chatter is constant when you live with an alcoholic. Now, I am not complaining because this life has taught me so much about God’s love for me. I know how to control my own emotions, thoughts and actions. I have learned how to be happy and cling to Jesus in the midst of the darkness around me. Boy, that is a liberating feeling! This peace and joy is available to anyone who wants it, but it takes constant and consistent work. Thanks, Lysa and Sheila, for giving me more tools to use to help in my life.

    Hi Lysa!

I wanted to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to view the webcast that I missed on 1/29/13. I was very touched by what you shared and by what Sheila Walsh shared about the negative chatter that you both have had to deal with in your lives. I can really relate to the feelings of abandonment and rejection, not feeling worthy or good enough. Lysa, I can not even express to you the depth of pain that I am feeling. I have never read your book “Unglued”. I bought a copy of your book for my sister for Christmas and am hoping that I will get a chance to read it once she finishes it. Due to the financial straits that I am in right now, I can not afford to purchase a copy of your book for myself. Lysa, I am so lost right now. I am trying so hard to wrap my brain around one verse from the Bible. I am so boggled with worry and confusion right now. I can’t stay focused. Do you have any words of wisdom that you can share with me? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Dearest Aleithia…I’m praying for you right now. I would encourage you to scroll through the archives of my blog here and write down any verses that stir your heart. Then take one each day and look it up in the Bible. Read it in context with the surrounding verses. Then think on that one verse for a whole day … or maybe even a whole week. Think on it until you memorize it and watch what God does. He’ll interrupt negative thoughts you might have with the encouragement of His truth.

I too had an abortion at age 19 and felt all the same things you felt. It isn’t until this year that I actually began telling people at age 44 and am finally having healing. I just shared my testimony at the Not Alone Pregnancy Center Sanctity of Life Banquet last Friday evening. I could not even eat before I spoke for fear I would throw up. When I got finished speaking, I got a standing ovation. My healing went to a whole new level and I will definitely be sharing my story more this year. If it saves 1 child and 1 young woman from a life of torment, it will be worth it all. I had to set aside my pride and become broken. My testimony is available if anyone would like to read it. Just email me at [email protected]. Lysa, I love you and pray for you and your ministry daily.

    Hi Lysa,

Thanks so much for the webcast replay, I so appreciated Shelia’s and your testimony.

I related to the feelings of shame you had re the abortion because I, as a Christian, had had an affair. My husband and I reconciled by God’s grace and now have a much happier and committed marriage, but I lived with a shame that kept me from going to any church for 15 years for fear someone would find out what I had done. We moved a few years later and didn’t even live in the same state, but the fear of being found out for what I’d done and the negative chatter in my mind, just continued.

I started a new job and was invited to go to an afternoon women’s meeting at a church. I went because it seemed ‘safe’ enough. Then I decided to attend this church every week and I fell in love with God and really understood that I had been forgiven. The Bible was telling me that God doesn’t remember my sin anymore but I couldn’t get past the thought that somehow what I had done had effected so many lives. One day in anguish I asked Him “How can You forget when others lives were effected, how can You forget?” I was so shocked to hear Him speak aloud to me saying “you have always been My perfect daughter”. I heard it with my physical ears and I was stunned!! but I knew that as He knows the end from the beginning, that was how He saw me!!

Wow! from that moment on I felt so FREE FROM CONDEMNATION !! He gave me a new life and I have been growing spiritually so fast ever since!! Praise You Jesus!!

P.S. In 2 months time my Husband and I will have been married for 45 years!

Thank you for being the tool God used for me today. At 3am, with a heavy heart and feeling quite inadequate and hopeless, God led me to your website as I submitted a prayer request. Then, this morning as I logged onto my computer, God led me to your replayed webcast. Tears flowed through Lyza’s testimony of negative inside chatter, mainly because I felt the presence of God talking JUST to me, JUST when I needed Him, JUST on how to turn to Him when feeling the way I do. Thanks for the encouraging words and advice to stay focused and let His living word refresh me daily – even with just one verse. Today’s verse (per your webcast) is Hebrows 10:19-23. God bless you. God is good. I will keep pressing toward the goal of Jesus Christ in all I do and say.

    Dear Lysa,

I have been a recipient of the grace that is being expressed through your life and leadership of this ministry for a few years and have been delighted to spread the news! When my friend in New York created ‘Godly Women’s Network,’ (GMN) last July, I jumped at the opportunity to share with other mothers the joy of reading and the stretching and fun that forming and growing a new community offers. Even before we completed our first book, your book ‘Unglued’, recently-published, caught my eye and I submitted the option to our leader. Now that we are two weeks out of completing reading your book, I can personally say that the journey is continuing. The approachable manner in which you wrote laced with the truth of God’s word, and the evidence of the grace places you visited along your own journey, were priceless. I know enough that words on a published page are a life’s work; a life’s pain and joy. Thank you for continuing to be faithful to YOUR personal faith and grace journey; I am closer to the best version of myself because of you. The best of me needing to emerge is being chiseled out slowly as I learn, relearn, inhale and exhale and allow ungluedness to lead me to my friend Jesus, over and over again.

    Here’s to imperfect progress!
