Dream Bigger, Start Smaller

Today my Pastor, Steven Furtick, is releasing his new book called, GREATER–Dream bigger. Start smaller. Ignite God’s vision for your life.

This is one of those books you’re going to be tempted to highlight so much, there will be more yellow lines than not by the time you’re done.

It’s just that good.

Honestly, I think we should all use it for the next month alongside our Bible for our morning devotion time. Maybe you’ve hit a dry spot in the rush of finishing up summer and trying to get geared up for a new school year. Or maybe you’ve felt a little lost in how to really follow hard after God’s vision for your life.

Well, read GREATER and I think you’ll see it’s the exact kick in the pants you’ve been wanting.

Not only is it the most engaging Bible teaching on the stories of the prophet Elisha I’ve ever seen, it’s also the roadmap your soul has been craving to better navigate God’s vision for your life. GREATER will show you how to dream bigger and start smaller as you learn to follow God like never before.

But instead of me just gabbing on and on about this amazing book, I thought I’d let you hear from Pastor Steven Furtick for yourself…

Can I just say that it is so refreshing to hear that both of you still struggle with raging insecurity from time to time? Not that I am GLAD that you do, but I know that when it hits me, I do wrestle with feeling like there is something wrong with me as a Christian.

The Lord has brought me SO far with insecurity issues, but it is still a struggle. But really, I would be in a whole lot of trouble if I was all prideful and got to a place where I felt like I didn’t need Him desperately. πŸ™‚ So thanks for that perspective this morning. Leaving encouraged this morning to continue pressing through doubt in myself and place my trust in Him to do greater things through me. Walking away encouraged that there is nothing wrong with me…I need Him just like everyone else does. πŸ˜‰

I’ve been struggling to see God’s vision for my life for a few years now. Sounds like a good book for me to read!

  3. Lucille says

The thing that hit me was when Steven said the line “Insecurity happens when I compare my behind the scenes to everybody else’s highlight real.” Wow! That’s exactly what I have been struggling with and that line brought me to tears. I will be praying specifically for that insecurity in my life along with other things! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for this encouragement this morning.

Lysa, I am listening to you and Pastor Steven and you just reinforced something I am committing myself to: teaching a bible study at my church. I am an aspiring speaker and writer – and ready to “dig my ditches!” Just ordered the Greater book, btw – and looking forward to the RAIN πŸ™‚ Thanks for continuing to be a blessing and inspiration. Giving God ALL the glory sister!

Well there you go, you hooked me. I just purchased the two books…Pastor Steven’s and yours. It’s one for my hubby and one for me! Have a great day πŸ™‚

Love love love the analogy of comparing the highlight reel with your behind the scenes. My 15 year old son who just loves elevation church on his own asked his dad and I if he could order greater and I am excited to see where He is going to take each member of our family….the greater things!

Ok…you guys are too funny! πŸ™‚ I find your honesty and humility so refreshing and encouraging. God is so good, and I thank Him for all of you who are courageously seeking Him in this day. American ears are dull with hearing, but His truth still shines brightly for those who seek with their whole hearts. Thanks for being an encouragement to us, and I pray God will continue to reveal Himself to you both! I will keep this book in mind πŸ˜‰

I had the pleasure of seeing Pastor Steven last Wednesday at my church as he kicked off the Deeper Conference. He preached an amazing word! I will definitely be picking up his book, thanks for sharing about it! πŸ™‚

I loved what the pastor said about digging trenches. I so ofter times wonder if I’m doing what God wants me to do or if its something I think he wants me to do. I am a person who needs an explanation alot of times as to why I’m doing something. Digging trenches makes so much sense in the fact that we must do what God is telling and be obedient so that he can rain down whatever it is that HE has planned. Great insight and I had never heard the story about trenches before!

Thank you for posting this. I am eager to get to the bookstore and get this book because it is exactly what I am supremely struggling with. It is so nice to see that ya’ll are helping others to seek the path God wants for their lives. Life is hard enough without God, finding the path is hard but will make life all the more beautiful and blessed. Thank you.

I haven’t been able to find or listen to the first Q & A video of you and Pastor Steven on his new book Greater but I did get to listen to the second one and it was very eye opening. I left my church home for 11 months after going through a situation which resulted in the ending of many of my close friends at my church. Needless to say, I was angry at God for awhile and very confused as to why He allowed me to have these friendships. I still don’t have answers but have just started attending my church again and want to know what and where God wants me. This book sounds like the thing that may help me figure some things out. Thanks!

I really like the ditch digging analogy that Pastor Steven used to reiterate that you have to do the work of God first, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to reap the rewards he has planned for you. This analogy makes it easy to reflect on what is happening in my life as I begin an new business venture for my “encore” career! Thank you for sharing this wonderful book with us.

Believe it or not this is my first blog! I really enjoyed every minute of it. I myself used to wonder what my calling was and it just began to make sense to me to simply begin. I started at my church by simply cleaning the toilets, mopping floors. Whatever needed to be done, I did it with joy. I could never imagine what God had planned for me, it has been a real journey. Realizing that He wanted complete surrender and obedience to Him. He does have a greater plan for our lives. I was the Women’s Ministry for 7 yrs, Church Secretary, 3yrs. Now I am in my final year of college studying psychology. My goal is to become a Christian Counselor and with God’s help I will. At 59 life is just beginning.

Wow! This gives me so much to think about – I took notes so that I can read them in my quiet time and reflect. Thank you!!

  15. Susan says

I know that we are created to do more than just exist and like when reading can be inspiring us to do just that. Also enjoyed learning that you and my kids go to the same church!

  16. Kat says

Greater is He… oh how I long and desire for more of Him and less of me. If I don’t win, then I will buy this book! Thank you!

  17. Charlotte says

These interviews have been awesome to listen to. Thanks for sharing! I would love to win a book. If not, than buying it would just have to happen. πŸ™‚

I say TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY! God is Good, and He is GREAT! I feel so blessed and highly favored, that I am in the Bahamas, and I have the opportunity to participate in this awesome Ministry. I would love the opportunity to embrace the teachings in GREATER, and to share it with our congregation at Allen Chapel AME Church. I love the fact that God is no respecter of person, He wants we ALL to know Him in the POWER of His MIGHT! . Although I am from another country and denomination of Faith, there is only ONE GOD who love us ALL and want NONE to perish. but have everlasting life. One day we will ALL meet at His Throne and give account for our stewardship.and I am THANKFUL for persons you Lysa and Pastor Steve for the contributions you have made in this regard.. May the blessing and wisdom of God continue to inspire both your GREATER pursuits!
