Lose to Gain

It’s no secret I’ve been on a “get healthy” journey for several years. Maybe you’ve walked this journey with me through reading Made to Crave.

It’s been a journey not just to health. It’s been a journey to God.

I had to admit, food is often what I turned to for comfort instead of God. It was easier for me to figure out how to get French fries than get closer to God.

But I’m learning. And I hope you are too.

It’s been an amazing journey. But now I’m sensing there’s another part.

Me getting healthy can’t just be about me and God. It has to be about me reaching out as well.

As I lose my unhealthy habits, might I be brave enough to gain a few things as well?

My friend, Chris Seay, has just written a book that captures my heart. It’s called “A Place at the Table.”

It’s a book to lead us through the 40 days of Lent with an amazing perspective.

Watch this video and you’ll see what I mean. Tomorrow we’ll play Part Two. After the video leave a comment below and I’ll enter you to win one of several signed copies of Chris’ book, “A Place at the Table.”

I’m so excited about this….

Thank you for sharing this with us. I never grew up learning about Lent so I am finding this very interesting. Looking forward to learning more.

God has place Made to Crave and now A Place at the Table in my life. I am so excited about this journey that I have begun my Lent Season early. Thank you Lysa and Chris for caring enough about others and loving God so much to want to serve Him.

Wow…Another wonderful layer of truth to draw us closer to Jesus, and further from our “self orientation” which tries to prevail in our lives. Maybe this is why some of my Jesus girls in our Made to Crave classes still struggle so….it’s still all about us….A challenge to me to make it even MORE all about Jesus….and then share it with others! Thanks Lysa & Chris! May God bless your efforts to get this word out..it won’t be popular, but it’s the TRUTH!

I never grew up practicing Lent, so this year is a first for me. I would love to have the book as I go on this journey! Thanks for all you do.

I grew up in a traditional Orthodox Church where Lent was acknowledged but not practiced, at least from my perspective. My children as they grew up would ask “what are we giving up for Lent?” My response was “we don’t do that.” As I fasted January 1-31 st from TV I started to think about fasting in a new way. I have yet to fast for Lent this year but the video really has me thinking deeper. It’s never to late is it???

Both of your books are more than about food ! Each book fed me ….. and nourished
me in a very special way ! I could feel the growth of His Love within me. As I read your books, I became more “saturated” in His Love ….. and I wanted to share that Love with everyone. I sat at His Table and allowed myself to really enjoy His Company ….. and I knew that He is the answer to my cravings. Thanks for an excellent “dinner” served with and in His Love.

    Dear Lysa,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m one of those “skinny girls,” who has been fighting battles of emotional emptiness and body image, Mike-Tyson-punch-out matches with over-controlling her own food choices, and the rinse-and-repeat carousel of emotions involving guilt, shame, and self-loathing that goes along with them since high school. I’m now 32.
But, thanks to prayer and to the power of almighty God, my mama put your book into my hands right smack dab in the middle of one of my mindless overindulging moments last Sunday after church. It was also at that very moment that I bit my tongue and drew blood. Yes, ma’am, the bite drew blood (what a powerful, symbolic moment, thank you, Lord!). And, as I’ve taken the plunge into your book this week and made real my vulnerability and brokenness before God, I’ve felt peace and security in HIM, and not my food choices or issues with control. I’m tasting freedom for the first time, and I’m so grateful, friend. The journey ain’t easy, but to hold hands with Jesus and ask for his help will make it all worth it.

Thank you for helping me become more aware of my skewed cravings and begin tapping into the greatest craving there is. God’s peace and continued freedom to you, and COME TO ATLANTA!

    Carter
