She Speaks Scholarship Contest 2011

I am excited to announce that the 2011 She Speaks conference registration is underway! Click here for more information.

And I am offering an opportunity to win one of 2 Cecil Murphy Scholarships I am giving away this week. And if you haven’t heard of Cecil Murphy’s amazing newsletters for writers, you’ll want to click here to subscribe for free! I’ll get to the specifics about the contest at the end of this post.

First, let me tell you a little more about She Speaks and why you should consider attending this year.

For Speakers:

Whether you are ready to take the main stage and start speaking at conferences and retreats or whether you want to learn how to more effectively teach a ladies’ Bible Study — this track is for you. After attending this conference you will be equipped to:

  • Know how to develop a great message from start to finish.
  • Understand what keeps an audience engaged and how to make your message memorable.
  • Deliver your message in such a way that not only inspires your audience but motivates them to make life changes.
  • Increase your number of booked speaking engagements by using proven marketing strategies.

For Writers:

You have had a passion for writing and have even had people encourage you to write a book, but have never known how to get started on the pathway to publication. You will also be able to make appointments to pitch your book proposal to some of the top Christian publishers- Zondervan, Harvest House, Revell, Discovery House, and several others.

Or maybe you are a blogger and want to learn how to more effectively connect with your readers, increase the impact of your blog, and hear from someone who successfully got a book contract by maximizing her blog platform.

  • Whatever the case may be, if you are a writer in the making, after attending this conference you will:
  • Discover your unique writing voice and the mechanics of effective writing.
  • Understand what publishers are looking for and how to write proposals that get their attention.
  • Better understand how to build your writing portfolio by getting published in magazines.
  • Know how to write a book that will impact your reader from start to finish.

For Women’s Ministry Leaders:

You know first hand the unique opportunities and challenges that present themselves when you lead a ministry in your church for women. You give and serve all year long — now is your chance to get filled back up with encouragement and training. You’ll have the opportunity to attend a Pre-Conference Intensive as well as the women’s ministry leadership track where you’ll learn how to:

  • Build a dream team of ministry partners.
  • Cast your vision for ministry in a way others will catch it.
  • Distinguish God’s direction for your ministry with confidence.
  • Celebrate milestones of your ministry’s effectiveness and keep your team inspired.

Now, here are the rules for the She Speaks Scholarship Contest:

1. You must have a blog. You must link back to this post.

*** Please note, if you do not have a blog — don’t fret. An amazingly generous blogger has donated a scholarship we’ll give away to those who e-mail their entry to Holly@Proverbs31.org with the subject line reading “She Speaks Scholarship Entry.” Please email to Holly by Friday, March 11.

2. Write a post on your blog that tells others a little about the She Speaks Conference and why you would like to win a scholarship.

3. If you want to post the She Speaks button on your site, that would be great! But it is not a requirement. We do request that you include a link both to this scholarship opportunity post as well the She Speaks Conference website .

4. Have your post up by Friday, March 11th, 2011.

5. Enter to win by linking below. *** VERY IMPORTANT*** Please be sure to link the specific page that your entry post is on. Our team of judges will be reviewing the entries and I will post the winners on Monday, March 14, 2011.

6. The winner of this contest will be awarded a scholarship for the cost of one person’s registration for the 2011 She Speaks conference.

The value of this scholarship is $595 which includes your conference materials, conference registration, 2 nights at the conference hotel and meals associated with the conference. Please note it does not include any travel expenses. Also, you will be assigned a room mate or you have the option to pay the extra charge for a private room.

This scholarship is non-transferable and can not be traded for cash.

Best of luck to you sweet friend! I hope to see many of you at She Speaks this year. Can you just imagine the great time that we will have?

I mean seriously, you know there will be some serious learning and some serious fun!

I can’t wait to see your entries. And, I can’t wait to show all of your blogs off to my team of judges!

Not about today’s blog just want to say….
I just want to thank you and Holly too! For being obedient to God and for taking your weekends to encourage others with God’s truth and your wonderful stories. Thank your families for their sacrifice on weekends! I know just leaving one weekend was fun but hard for my husband with sports and school carnivals he got to volunteer at for me!! Hee Hee!

We were the group of three that came from Wichita, Kansas area. We got to meet both of you this weekend in Tulsa! I have enjoyed your blogs for years, the webcasts and your past two books! I again just want to thank you and Holly! Tell your families we appreciate their sacrifices and obedience to God! Thanks for your encouragement, honesty, and wisdom!

This sounds like a wonderful thing and I HAVE been feeling the pull to Women’s Ministry. I’m gonna pray about this and see if it’s something I should try. I guess if He shows me how to do all the “linking” things, then I’ll go for it – LOL

I’m new at this ‘blogging’ stuff, too, and much of the technical side of it is still a mystery to me.

Thanks for the other scholarship someone is offering, too :)

I’m not entering this contest because I’ve already registered for She Speaks, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello!!! I am new to Proverbs 31 ministry, new to this blog, new to She Speaks and to this whole writing/speaking dream, and I am SOOOO very excited for the opportunity to attend this conference! I’ve heard and read nothing but wonderful things about it, and trust me, I did my research! I cannot wait. I’m counting down the days (literally, I have a countdown button in one of my She Speaks 2011 blog posts!). I just want to say that I’ll be praying for whoever the winner is, and trusting the Lord to bring exactly Who He wants to the conference! God bless you and and all the scholarship hopefuls, and have a wonderful week!

Thank you for this amazing opportunity! If you all ever hear of a similar Christian conference here on the West Coast, would you let me know?

    Blessings,

She Speaks was SUCH an incredible experience last year! I know everyone who attends this year will be BLESSED beyond measure!

Oh, my. How my stomach does a little flip-flop just looking at that Mr.Linky. I so remember writing for the scholarship the last two years. Mercy. Makes a gal nervous putting her heart out there like that. Praying for each precious woman entering…for peace whether a scholarship comes or not, for provision to go if the scholarship does not come, and for a deep down settled cannot be shaken knowledge of God’s love and the perfectness of His plans.

Prayin’ for you gals who have the tough job of picking, too!
    Lots of love,
    K

Praying for all the ladies who are sharing their hearts in this contest. I was so incredibly blessed to have been chosen as a recipient last year…totally a God thing! Now, I have a contract for my first book with Kregel Publications. God has a plan and purpose for each one of these women and I’m excited to see it unfold!

    Many Prayers and Blessings,

Hi Lysa .. I pray you are well as you read this :o )
Thanks so very much for the opportunity to “win” a scholarship! I tried for the one that LeAnn offered on her She Cooks blog (http://www.shecooks.org), but alas, I was not the winner (but it was cool that because of the response there was an additional partial scholarship offered!)
I have posted about the She Speaks conference here: http://magenmyshield.blogspot.com/2011/03/she-speaks-conference.html
    I also added the She Speaks button to my blog and added a link to the the blog posting on my Facebook page. {Word of mouth is great advertising!!}
Have a super rest of your week!
Peace & Blessings to you and yours.

    Kari says:

Wish I had a blog…. :( BUT I do have a question – hope it is OK to post it here? I have been reading your book & watching your webcasts and one question I have is how did you know when you were ready to allow sugar in your diet again? How did you know it no longer held that addiction over you? Something I am trying to figure out…

  17. 17
    Heather says:

Is it possible to change a link above? I moved my blog from WordPress to Blogger. If not, the old post is still there, I’m just not updating it anymore.

Thank you for this opportunity! I have wanted to attend She Speaks for 3 years but finances and having a baby haven’t allowed me to go. I’m hoping this is the year I attend!! But it’s only going to happen if I win a scholarship or the Mom Central Blogging grant. I keep praying and hoping and praying some more. :)

Thank you for this contest, simply because it has helped introduce me to some of the most amazing writers with such a sweet heart for God. I entered, and of course I’d love to win….but if I don’t, I consider myself a winner already just by getting to read these blogs. Write on ladies! Write on!

Thank you so much for offering this scholarship! Praying for all of us girlys :)

    Renee Scott says:

Thanks for this opportunity! My twin sister and I are excited about the blessing you are providing to us and others submitting their entries. We recently attended the 2011 Florida Christian Writer’s Conference and understand the value of these platforms. We are setting out to inspire the world and this conference will be a double portion blessing if received. :)

    Mary Mauk says:

Well, I did my part by submitting an email entry to Holly (because I do not yet have a blog). Now it’s up to the good Lord to decide the rest. THANK YOU so much for this opportunity, Lysa!

  31. 31

Well, my palms are sweaty but I did it, I hit publish :) Thanks for the opportunity!

    Jamie

P.S. I hit the checkout button on my Amazon cart the other day. I received your book today. I’m headed out of town for a Beth Moore conference tomorrow and Made to Crave will be my companion on the flight. I’m nervous and excited to read it.

  32. 32

Okay! Wow!! So glad I didn’t read any of the other blogs before I entered mine. Other wise I would have chickened out for sure!! What alot of talented women out there. I’m glad I’m not on the comittee to pick the winners. You guys have your work cut out for ya!!! Thanks for a wonderful opportunity!

  33. 33
    Shelly Story says:

Oh, wow! This is so exciting! There are soooo many women who desire to be trained and equipped! I love reading them all. Er, I mean some. I don’t have time to read them all.

I don’t envy you the job of deciding, but as I said, I am praying for your P31 team that the Lord wil lead you to the women who are supposed to receive.

Thanks for all you do, and for having found a calling that leads other women to stronger places in Christ. You’re awesome!
    Shelly

PS…I know I heard you say once that you have a July birthday. When is it? Will you be celebrating at SS’11, by chance? :)

  34. 34
    Rebecca says:

I wanted to attend this conference last year, but it was right around the same time that my newest baby was due. So here I go…

    http://hapeshappenings.blogspot.com/2011/03/all-things-work-together.html

I hope I did this correctly!

  35. 35
    Kimberly says:

OK, I’m sitting here bleary eyed at almost 4 am EST…I think I’ve read just about every single entry. *yawn* It has been a tremendous blessing to read every one! Who would have though that so many other women would share the same dreams as me? What a blessing to know that I’m not alone, nor am I nuts to think that I could do something as impossible as be a speaker and writer! I have prayed for every person, that God would make a way for each woman to attend this conference, scholarship or not. God is faithful to provide, and I believe He will, I KNOW He will, if it is His will! Blessings to you all. I will eagerly look forward to the results on Monday!!!

    Kelly Combs says:

Thanks for the opportunity to enter! I love Cecil Murphey. I submitted a story to him for one of his books, and he accepted it! Alas, his publisher cut it, but he & I had a very nice “back & forth” out of it. He is one of a kind!

  37. 37
    Dana Arcuri says:

    Hi Lysa,

Where will you be posting the two winners for the July 2011 She Speaks conference? I read many of the entries & I was deeply touched by them.

Judging the hundreds of entries is going to be one tough challenge….They are so amazing! Everyone has their own unique story to share how God is calling them to step out in faith to follow His ultimate calling upon their lives.

Best wishes to all who entered this contest!

    God Bless,
    Dana Arcuri

I was just following up on the contest. I didn’t see the winners posted. Did I miss it?
