I want to write a note to your mama

I am so excited.

Partly because I have officially finished folding an unreasonable amount of laundry that had accumulated in my home this week. Most of it is also put away which is a cause of great celebration.

Laundry. It is the gift that keeps on giving. These people of mine like to wear clothes one time and that’s it. They have not picked up on my trick that hello, you can rewear clothes if you don’t sweat in them.

Do y’all do that?

Just out of curiosity, let’s do a little informal survey today. How many times do you wear your favorite jeans in between washes?

Do not be afraid to be honest. Remember, I am the queen of rewearing and I’m just trying to figure out if I hold the record or not.

And for all of you who throw your two cents into this discussion, I will enter you to win my mother’s day gift pack:

* A signed and personalized copy of Becoming More than a Good Bible Study Girl- the book, the workbook, and the DVD teaching series.

* And a personal note written to the woman you wish to honor on Mother’s Day (from a girl who rewears her jeans a lot.)

Oh I love contest days!

And just FYI…. any orders of Becoming More than a Good Bible Study Girl ordered from Proverbs 31 Ministries today or tomorrow, will be signed and shipped straight to your mama- or your best friend- or your sister- or whoever you wish to bless so she will smile on Mother’s Day.

Then you will feel so happy to have this crossed off your list. And you and your reworn jeans can go meet some friends for coffee and all will be well in your world.

To leave a comment and be entered into this contest, click on “post a comment” below and follow the prompts. If you post as anonymous, be sure to leave your name and a way for us to contact you if you win!

Happy Day.

God is

“God is our refuge and strength, and ever present help in trouble…
The Lord is within me, I will not fall…
The Lord Almighty is with us…
Come and see the works of the Lord…
Be still, and know that He is God,” Psalm 46.

I don’t know who else needs to soak in these words today, but I know I certainly do.

God is the solution for every single one of my troubles…

God is within me and perfectly equips me to know what to do…

God is with me therefore there is nothing I’ll face alone…

Evidence of His constant work is all around me if only I will choose to see it…

Be still my run away heart…
Be still my desire to fix things…
Be still my anxious thoughts…
Be still and know without a doubt, God is.
God is the answer.
God is the solution.
God is the desire met.
God is what I am looking for.
God is what I need.
God is God.
Be still and know.

Why the police were at my house yesterday

Well, yesterday was certainly an exciting day around the TerKeurst’s homestead.

We have snakes, we have mice, and now we have fugitives. For those who passed by my house yesterday and saw a plethora of sirens and police cars let me put your mind at ease before some wild tales start to get spun.

Apparently, a person running from the law decided our home looked like the perfect place to hide. Thank heavens he didn’t decide to come inside our home. And I have a theory why.

We are crazy.

Between my youngest daughter’s complete meltdown at the front door at 6:45am proclaiming making her go to school was child abuse and my small Jack Russel dog’s tendency to eat unwanted guests, the fugitive thought twice about jumping into our mix.

Not to mention the cellulite I may or may not have flashed while getting ready yesterday. We live out in the country people. With no neighbors close by. So, who knew?

In all seriousness, I am thankful the police caught the person they were looking for without incident. And I am really thankful the police were not here to haul me off to jail for some reason. That would have made for a really sad day.

I don’t think they have internet in the jailhouse and I would have missed you all terribly.

Speaking of missing you terribly, I wish every single one of you could have been in Greenville this past weekend. Those of you who were there…. what a joy to meet up with you person! But for those of you weren’t, here are a couple of photos…

Is it my imagination or do I look like I’m about to break out in a rap song here? Let me assure you, I was not.

What a joy to have two of my daughters and Holly right on the front row. One of my daughters made me promise I would not embarrass her by pointing her out. The other would have been very happy to come on stage with me and sing some sort of rap song. She does a perfect imitation of Bon Qui Qui at King Burger.

Oh how different they are.

But what a joy to be able to do ministry together.

And by the way, one of my sweet children is pretty sure since meeting Matthew West backstage and getting his autograph that he’s her new bff. But I doubt he’ll ever come visit us.

He totally wants to.

But it’s complicated. After all, we have snakes, mice, and fugitives y’all.

Happy Tuesday~
